Reltive cluster tilting ojects in tringulted ctegories Wuzhong Yng nd Bin Zhu Astrct rxiv: v3 [mth.rt] 8 Mr 07 Assume tht is Krull-Schmidt, Hom-finite tringulted ctegory with Serre functor nd cluster-tilting oject T. We introduce the notion of reltive cluster tilting ojects, nd T[]-cluster tilting ojects in, which re generliztion of cluster-tilting ojects. When is -Cli-Yu, the reltive cluster tilting ojects re cluster-tilting. Let Λ = End op (T) e the opposite lger of the endomorphism lger of T. We show tht there exists ijection etween T[]-cluster tilting ojects in nd support τ-tilting Λ- modules, which generlizes result of Adchi-Iym-Reiten [AIR]. We develop sic theory on T[]-cluster tilting ojects. In prticulr, we introduce prtil order on the set of T[]-cluster tilting ojects nd muttion of T[]-cluster tilting ojects, which cn e regrded s generliztion of cluster-tilting muttion. As n ppliction, we give prtil nswer to question posed in [AIR]. Key words. cluster-tilting ojects; support τ-tilting modules; reltive cluster tilting ojects; muttions. Introduction Cluster-tilting ojects in tringulted ctegory were introduced in [BMRRT, BMR, IY, KR, KZ]. When is cluster ctegory or more generl, -Cli-Yu (-CY for short) tringulted ctegory, they ply crucil role in the ctegorifiction of cluster lgers, nd they correspond to the clusters [K]. Cluster lgers were introduced y Fomin nd Zelevinsky in [FZ]. There hs een vst literture to estlish connections with representtion theory of finite dimensionl lgers. Mrsh, Reineke nd Zelevinsky mde first ttempt to understnd cluter lgers in terms of the representtion theory of quivers in [MRZ]. Immeditely following this, Bun, Mrsh, Reiten, Reineke nd Todorov in [BMRRT, K] invented cluster ctegories (see lso [CCS] for type A n ). This led to develop theory, nmely cluster-tilting theory, nd yielded ctegorifiction of cyclic cluster lgers. At the sme time, Geiß, Leclerc nd Schröer [GLS, GLS] studied cluster-tilting ojects in module ctegories over preprojective lgers nd gve ctegorifiction of certin cyclic cluster lgers. Cluster ctegories nd the stle module ctegories of preprojective lgers of ynkin quivers re exmples of -CY tringulted ctegories. Cluster-tilting ojects hve mny nice properties. A fruitful theory out them hs een developed in lst ten yers, see for exmple, [KR], [BIRS] for cluster-tilting in -CY tringulted ctegories; [KZ], [IY], [B] for cluster-tilting in tringulted ctegories. One of the importnt properties of cluster-tilting ojects in -CY tringulted ctegories is tht when we remove some direct summnd T i from cluster-tilting oject T = T T T n to get T/T i = ji T j (which is clled n lmost complete cluster-tilting oject), then there is exctly one indecomposle oject T i such tht T i T i nd T/T i T i is cluster-tilting oject, which is clled the Supported y the NSF of Chin (Grnts 67)
muttion of T t T i. Muttion of cluster-tilting ojects in -CY tringulted ctegories were defined in [BMRRT, IY] nd studied y mny uthors fter them, it corresponds to the muttion of clusters in the ctegorifiction of cluster lgers. But the muttion of cluster-tilting ojects in tringulted ctegories which re not -CY, is not lwys possile, see for exmple Section II in [BIRS], nd see exmples in Section 5. To mke muttion lwys possile, it is desirle to enlrge the clss of cluster-tilting ojects to get the more generl property tht lmost complete ones lwys hve two complements. Cluster-tilted lgers were introduced y Bun, Mrsh nd Reiten in [BMR], which re y definition, the endomorphism lgers of cluster-tilting ojects in cluster ctegories. It ws proved tht the module ctegory of cluster-tilted lger is equivlent to the quotient ctegory of cluster ctegory y the cluster-tilting oject [BMR]. One cn lso study the endomorphism lger of cluster-tilting oject in tringulted ctegory, the equivlence ove still holds in this generl cse [KR, KZ, IY]. Under this equivlence, one cn sk the prolem whether tilting module over the endomorphism lger of cluster-tilting oject cn e lifted to cluster-tilting oject in the tringulted ctegory. Smith [Smi] nd Fu-Liu [FL] proved tht it is lwys true for cluster ctegories nd -CY tringulted ctegories. Holm-Jørgensen [HJ] nd Beliginnis [B] proved it is true when the glol dimension of endomorphism lger is finite. More recently, Adchi-Iym-Reiten [AIR] introduced the τ-tilting modules for ny finite dimensionl lger. Assume tht is -CY tringulted ctegory with cluster-tilting ojects T. In [AIR], the uthors estlished ijection etween cluster-tilting ojects in nd support τ-tilting modules in mod End op (T) (see lso [CZZ, YZZ] for vrious version of the ijection). Unfortuntely, mny exmples (see for exmple Section 5, nd see Exmple.6) indicte tht this result does not hold if is not -CY. It is then resonle to find clss of ojects in which correspond to support τ-tilting modules in mod End op (T) ijectively in more generl setting. For these purposes, we introduce the notion of reltive cluster tilting ojects in tringulted ctegory, which re generliztion of cluster-tilting ojects. For n oject M in, we use [M](X, Y) to denote the sugroup of Hom (X, Y) consisting of the morphisms from X to Y fctoring through ddm. In this wy, we define n idel [M[]](, ) of if M is clustertilting oject, which is clled ghost idel of in [B]. efinition.. Let e tringulted ctegory with cluster-tilting ojects. An oject X in is clled reltive rigid if there exists cluster-tilting oject T such tht [T[]](X, X[]) = 0. In this cse, X is lso clled T[]-rigid. An oject X in is clled reltive cluster tilting (respectively, lmost reltive cluster tilting) if there exists cluster-tilting oject T such tht X is T[]-rigid nd X = T (respectively, X = T ), where X denotes the numer of non-isomorphic indecomposle direct summnds of X. In this cse, X is lso clled T[]-cluster tilting (respectively, lmost T[]-cluster tilting). For cluster-tilting oject T, we introduce prtil order on the set of sic T[]-cluster tilting ojects nd get the first min result of this pper. Theorem.. (see Theorem 3.6 nd Proposition 4.4 for detils). Let e tringulted ctegory with Serre functor nd cluster-tilting oject T, nd let Λ = End op (T). Then there is n order-preserving ijection etween the set of isomorphism clsses of sic T[]-cluster tilting ojects in nd the set of isomorphism clsses of sic support τ-tilting Λ-modules.
If is -CY tringulted ctegory, then it turns out tht T[]-cluster tilting ojects re precisely cluster-tilting ojects. Thus this theorem improves result in [AIR]. Furthermore, we introduce muttion of reltive cluster tilting ojects. The second min result of this pper is the following, which is generliztion of result in [BMRRT, IY]. Theorem.3. (see Corollry 3.7 nd Theorem 4.0 for detils). Let e tringulted ctegory with Serre functor nd cluster-tilting oject T. Then ny sic lmost T[]-cluster tilting oject in hs exctly two non-isomorphic indecomposle complements, nd they re relted y exchnge tringles. In the lst prt of this pper, we give n ppliction. In [AIR], the uthors gve method to clculte left muttion of support τ-tilting modules y exchnge sequences nd rised question out exchnge sequences (Question.8 in [AIR]). For this question, we first give reltionship etween exchnge sequences nd the exchnge tringles in Theorem.3 nd then give prtil nswer. The pper is orgnized s follows. In Section, we review some elementry definitions nd fcts tht we need to use, including cluster-tilting ojects nd support τ-tilting modules. In Section 3, we first give some sic properties of reltive cluster tilting ojects, then we stte nd prove our first min result. In Section 4, we introduce muttion of reltive cluster tilting ojects nd prove our second min result. As n ppliction, we give prtil nswer to Question.8 in [AIR]. In the lst section, we present some exmples. We end this section with some conventions. Throughout this rticle, k is n lgericlly closed field nd =Hom k (, k) is the k dulity. All modules we consider in this pper re left modules. For finite dimensionl lger Λ, modλ denotes the ctegory of finitely generted left Λ-modules, nd projλ denotes the suctegory of modλ consisting of projective Λ-modules. For ny tringulted ctegory, we ssume tht it is k-liner, Hom-finite, nd stisfies the Krull-Remk-Schmidt property [H]. In, we denote the shift functor y [] nd define Ext i (X, Y) Hom (X, Y[i]) for ny ojects X nd Y. For simplicity, we use (X, Y) or (X, Y) to denote the set of morphisms from X to Y in. If T is suctegory of, then we lwys ssume tht T is full suctegory which is closed under tking isomorphisms, direct sums nd direct summnds. For three ojects M, X nd Y in, we denote y ddm the full suctegory of consisting of direct summnds of direct sum of finitely mny copies of M, nd denote y [M](X, Y) the sugroup of Hom (X, Y) consisting of morphisms which fctor through ojects in ddm. The quotient ctegory /[M] of is ctegory with the sme ojects s nd the spce of morphisms from X to Y is the quotient of group of morphisms from X to Y in y the sugroup consisting of morphisms fctor through ojects in dd M. For two morphisms f : M N nd g : N L, the composition of f nd g is denoted y g f : M L. Preliminries In this section, we recll some definitions nd results tht will e used in this pper.. Support τ-tilting modules Let Λ e finite dimensionl k-lger nd τ e the Auslnder-Reiten trnsltion. Support τ- tilting modules were introduced y Adchi, Iym nd Reiten [AIR], which cn e regrded s generliztion of tilting modules. 3
efinition.. Let (X, P) e pir with X modλ nd P projλ.. We sy tht (X, P) is sic if X nd P re sic.. X is clled τ-rigid if Hom Λ (X, τx) = 0. (X, P) is clled τ-rigid pir if X is τ-rigid nd Hom Λ (P, X) = X is clled τ-tilting if X is τ-rigid nd X = Λ. 4. A τ-rigid pir (X, P) is sid to e support τ-tilting (respectively, lmost support τ-tilting) pir if X + P = Λ (respectively, X + P = Λ ). If (X, P) is support τ-tilting pir, then X is clled support τ-tilting module. 5. Let (X, P ) e pir with X modλ nd P projλ. We sy tht (X, P) is direct summnd of (X, P ) if X is direct summnd of X nd P is direct summnd of P. Throughout this pper, we denote y τ-tiltλ (respectively, sτ-tiltλ) the set of isomorphism clsses of sic τ-tilting (respectively, support τ-tilting) Λ-modules, nd y τ-rigidλ the set of isomorphism clsses of sic τ-rigid pirs of Λ. The following oservtion is sic in τ-tilting theory. Proposition.. [AIR, Proposition.3] Let (X, P) e sic pir with X modλ nd P = Λe projλ, where e is n idempotent of Λ. () (X, P) is τ-rigid (respectively, support τ-tilting) pir for Λ if nd only if X is τ-rigid (respectively, τ-tilting) (Λ/ΛeΛ)-module. () Let (X, P) e support τ-tilting pir for Λ. Then P is determined y X uniquely. This mens tht if (X, P) nd (X, Q) re sic support τ-tilting pirs for Λ, then P Q. For τ-tilting modules, we hve the nlog of the Bongrtz completion of tilting modules. Theorem.3. [AIR, Theorem.9] Let X e τ-rigid Λ-module. Then there exists Λ-module V such tht X V is τ-tilting Λ-module. The notion of muttion ws lso introduced in [AIR]. efinition.4. Two sic support τ-tilting pirs (T, P) nd (T, P ) for Λ re sid to e muttion of ech other if there exists sic lmost support τ-tilting pir (U, Q) which is direct summnd of (T, P) nd (T, P ). In this cse we write T = µ X (T) if X is n indecomposle Λ-module stisfying either T = U X or P = Q X. The following result shows tht support τ-tilting modules complete tilting modules from the viewpoint of muttion. Theorem.5. [AIR, Theorem.7] Let Λ e finite dimensionl k-lger. Then ny sic lmost support τ-tilting pir (U, Q) for Λ is direct summnd of exctly two sic support τ- tilting pirs (T, P) nd (T, P ) for Λ. Moreover we hve {FcT, FcT } = {FcU, (τu) Q }. 4
. Functorilly finite torsion clsses Let Λ e finite dimensionl k-lger nd τ e the Auslnder-Reiten trnsltion. We denote y K (projλ) the homotopy ctegory of ounded complexes of finitely generted projective Λ-modules. We recll the definition of functorilly finite torsion clsses. We sy tht full suctegory T of modλ is torsion clss if it is closed under fctor modules nd extensions nd n oject X in T is Ext-projective if Ext Λ (X, ) T = 0. We denote y P(T ) the direct sum of one copy of ech of the indecomposle Ext-projective ojects in T up to isomorphism [Ho, Sm]. Let X e module in modλ. A morphism f : T 0 X is clled right T -pproximtion of X if T 0 T nd Hom Λ (, f ) T is surjective. If ny module in modλ hs right T -pproximtion, we cll T contrvrintly finite in modλ. ully, left T -pproximtion nd covrintly finite suctegory re defined. We sy tht T is functorilly finite if it is oth covrintly finite nd contrvrintly finite. We denote y f-torsλ the set of functorilly finite torsion clsses in modλ. The following result gives reltionship etween support τ-tilting Λ-modules nd functorilly finite torsion clsses in modλ. Theorem.6. [AIR, Theorem.6] There is ijection sτ-tiltλ f-torsλ given y sτ-tiltλ M FcM f-torsλ nd f-torsλ T P(T ) sτ-tiltλ, where FcM is the suctegory of modλ consisting of ll ojects which re fctor modules of finite direct sums of copies of M. Under this ijection, we cn give prtil order on sτ-tiltλ. efinition.7. For M, N sτ-tiltλ, we write M N if FcM FcN. The reltion gives prtil order on sτ-tiltλ. The following proposition is very importnt for muttion of support τ-tilting modules. Proposition.8. [AIR, efinition-proposition.6] Let T = X U nd T e support τ-tilting Λ-modules such tht T = µ X (T) for some indecomposle Λ-module X. Then either T > T or T > T. Moreover T > T (respectively, T < T ) if nd only if X FcU (respectively, X FcU)..3 Serre functors Following Bondl nd Kprnov [BK], we give the definition of Serre functors. efinition.9. Let e k-liner tringulted ctegory with finite dimensionl Hom-spces. A Serre functor S : is k-liner equivlence with ifunctoril isomorphisms Hom (A, B) Hom (B, SA) for ny A, B, where is the dulity over k. In [RVdB], Reiten nd Vn den Bergh proved tht if hs Serre functor S, then hs Auslnder-Reiten tringles. Moreover, if τ is the Auslnder-Reiten trnsltion in, then S τ []. We sy tht tringulted ctegory with Serre functor S is n-cli-yu if S [n]. 5
.4 Cluster-tilting ojects Let e k-liner, Hom-finite tringulted ctegory with Serre functor S. An importnt clss of ojects in re the cluster-tilting ojects, which hve mny nice properties. Following Iym nd Yoshino [IY], we give the definitions of cluster-tilting ojects nd relted ojects s follows. efinition.0. () An oject T in is clled rigid if Ext (T, T) = 0. () An oject T in is clled mximl rigid if it is rigid nd mximl with respect to the property: ddt = {X Ext (T X, T X) = 0}. (3) An oject T in is clled cluster-tilting if ddt = {X Ext (T, X) = 0} = {X Ext (X, T) = 0}. Throughout this pper, we denote y rigid (respectively, c-tilt) the set of isomorphism clsses of sic rigid (respectively, cluster-tilting) ojects in. For two ojects X nd Y in, we define y X Y full suctegory of whose ojects re ll such M with tringles X 0 M Y 0 X 0 [], where X 0 ddx nd Y 0 ddy. Let τ e the Auslnder-Reiten trnsltion in nd denote y F = τ []. We hve the following results, which will e used frequently in this pper. Theorem.. [IY, KZ] Let T e cluster-tilting oject in. Then we hve the following () = T T[]. () F is n uto-equivlence of stisfying FT T. Theorem.. [KR, KZ] Let T e cluster-tilting oject in, nd let Λ = End op (T). Then the functor ( ) Hom (T, ) : modλ induces n equivlence /[T[]] nd Λ is Gorenstein lger of Gorenstein dimension t most. modλ, () This theorem tells us tht ll Λ-modules hve projective dimension zero, one or infinity. In order to chrcterize the Λ-modules of infinite projective dimension, Beudet, Brüstle nd Todorov [BBT] introduced the following definition. efinition.3. Let X e n oject in. The idel of End op (T[]) given y ll endomorphisms tht fctor through X is clled fctoriztion idel through X, denoted y I X. It is esy to see tht I M N = I M + I N, for ny two ojects M nd N in. The min theorem in [BBT] is the following. Theorem.4. Let T e cluster-tilting oject in nd let Λ = End op (T). If M is n indecomposle oject in which does not elong to ddt[], then the Λ-module Hom (T, M) hs infinite projective dimension if nd only if the fctoriztion idel I M is non-zero. 6
We keep the nottion of Theorem. nd denote y iso the set of isomorphism clsses of ojects in. By the equivlence (7), we hve ijection ( ) : iso iso(modλ) iso(projλ) () X = X X X (X, X [ ]), where X is mximl direct summnd of X which elongs to ddt[]. Under this ijection, lot of work to study the reltionships etween ojects in nd modules in modλ, see for exmple [AIR, B, CZZ, FL, HJ, Smi, YZZ]. In prticulr, we denote y c-tilt T the set of isomorphism clsses of sic cluster-tilting ojects in which do not hve non-zero direct summnds in ddt[], then we hve the following result. Theorem.5. [AIR, Theorem 4.] If is -CY, then the ijection ( ) induces ijections rigid τ-rigidλ, c-tilt sτ-tiltλ, nd c-tilt T τ-tiltλ. However, this result does not hold if is not -CY. Here we consider n esy exmple. Exmple.6. Let Q e the quiver α β 3. We consider the 3-cluster ctegory = (kq)/τ Q [3] of type A 3, where τ Q is the Auslnder- Reiten trnsltion in (kq) (see [K, K, T, Z08] for detils). Then is 4-Cli-Yu tringulted ctegory nd its AR-quiver is s follows: The direct sum T = 3[] [] [] [] 3[3] [3] gives cluster-tilting oject, 3 3 nd the opposite lger of the endomorphism lger Λ = End op (T) is given y the following quiver with rd = 0. The AR-quiver of modλ is s follows:
It is esy to see tht M = is support τ-tilting Λ-module, ut the oject in corresponding to M is [] [] 3 [] 3 3 [], which is not cluster-tilting oject since it hs self-extensions. In next section, we shll investigte n importnt clss of ojects in, which correspond to support τ-tilting Λ-modules ijectively. 3 Reltive cluster tilting ojects nd support τ-tilting modules In this section, we study the following ojects in tringulted ctegories. efinition 3.. Remrk 3.. Any rigid oject in is reltive rigid. The following esy oservtion shows tht reltive cluster tilting ojects cn e regrded s generliztion of cluster-tilting ojects. Proposition 3.3. If dmits Serre functor, then for ny cluster-tilting oject T, cluster-tilting ojects in re T[]-cluster tilting. Proof. Let M e cluster-tilting oject in. Clerly, it is T[]-rigid. By Corollry.5 in [YZZ], ll sic cluster-tilting ojects hve the sme numer of indecomposle direct summnds. Thus, M = T. Hence M is T[]-cluster tilting. Throughout this section, we ssume tht is k-liner, Hom-finite tringulted ctegory with cluster-tilting ojects nd Serre functor S. Let T e cluster-tilting oject in nd Λ = (T) the opposite lger of the endomorphism lger of T. Our im in this section is End op 8
to show tht there is close reltionship etween T[]-cluster tilting ojects in nd support τ-tilting Λ-modules. Let τ e the Auslnder-Reiten trnsltion in. We first give the following proposition, which indictes tht T[]-rigid ojects nd rigid ojects coincide in some cses. Proposition 3.4. For two ojects M nd N in, [T[]](M, N[]) = 0 nd [T[]](N, τ M) = 0 if nd only if Hom (M, N[]) = 0. In prticulr, if is -CY, then X is T[]-rigid if nd only if X is rigid. Proof. We show the if prt. If Hom (M, N[]) = 0, then [T[]](M, N[]) = 0. By Serre dulity, we hve Hom (N, τ M) Hom (N[], SM) Hom (M, N[]) = 0. Thus we otin [T[]](N, τ M) = 0. We show the only if prt. Since T is cluster-tilting oject, y Theorem., we know there exists tringle g N f h T [] T 0 [] T 0 with T 0, T ddt. Thus we hve commuttive digrm of exct sequences (T [], τ M) f (N, τ M) (T 0, τ M) (T, τ M) (M, T []) ( f [] ) (M, N[]) (g[] ) (M, T 0 []) (h ) (M, T []). Since Im( f ) = { f Hom (T [], τ M)} [T[]](N, τ M) = 0, we know tht Ker(g[] ) = Im( f [] ) Im( f ) = 0. (3) N f T [] h T 0 [] g[] N[] τ M c Tke ny Hom (M, T 0 []). Since [T[]](M, N[]) = 0, we hve g[] = 0. Thus there exists c : M T [] such tht = hc, which implies tht is surjective. Therefore, (h ) is injective nd (h ) : Hom (M, T []) Hom (M, T 0 []) M c hc. Im(g[] ) = Ker(h ) = 0. Comining this with (3), we know tht Hom (M, N[]) = 0 nd Hom (M, N[]) vnishes. 9
The following lemm plys n importnt role in this pper. This ws proved y Plu [P] in cse is -CY ctegory, nd proved in [YZZ] for generl cse. For the convenience of the reders, we give simple proof in the following. Lemm 3.5. Let e tringulted ctegory with Serre functor S nd cluster-tilting oject T. Then for ny ojects X nd Y in, there is ifunctoril isomorphism Hom /[T] (τ Y, X) [T](X[ ], Y). Proof. Since T is cluster-tilting oject, y Theorem., we know there exists tringle T T 0 X ξ T [] in with T 0 nd T in ddt. Applying Hom (, Y) to it, we hve mp ϕ : Hom (T, Y) Hom (X[ ], Y) f f ξ[ ]. It is esy to see tht Imϕ [T](X[ ], Y). Since the ctegory hs Serre functor S, we hve isomorphisms Hom (T, Y) Hom (S Y, T ) Hom (τ Y, T []), Hom (X[ ], Y) Hom (S Y, X[ ]) Hom (τ Y, X). Hom (X[ ], Y) ϕ Hom (T, Y) Hom (τ Thus, ϕ is isomorphic to mp Y, X) φ Hom (τ Y, T []) φ : Hom (τ Y, X) Hom (τ Y, T []) g ξg. Note tht Kerφ = [T](τ Y, X). Hence, we hve isomorphisms [T](X[ ], Y) Imϕ Imϕ Imφ Hom (τ Y, X)/Kerφ Hom /[T](τ Y, X). 0
We keep the nottion of ijection (). Let X e n oject in, we define it is esy to see tht X = X. X = (X, X [ ]) X + X [ ], From now on, we denote y T[]-rigid (respectively, T[]-tilt) the set of isomorphism clsses of sic T[]-rigid (respectively, T[]-cluster tilting) ojects in, y T[]-tilt T the set of ojects in T[]-tilt which do not hve non-zero direct summnds in ddt[], nd y T[]-tilt 0 T := { X T[]-tilt T I X = 0}. On the other hnd, we denote y tiltλ the set of isomorphism clsses of sic tilting modules in modλ. The following correspondences re our min result in this section. Theorem 3.6. Let e k-liner, Hom-finite tringulted ctegory with Serre functor S nd cluster-tilting oject T, nd let Λ = End op (T). Then the ijection ( ) in () induces the following ijections T[]-rigid T[]-tilt T[]-tilt T nd T[]-tilt 0 T () () (c) (d) τ-rigidλ, sτ-tiltλ, τ-tiltλ, tiltλ. Proof. By Corollry 6.5(3)(iii) in [IY], if M hs no nonzero indecomposle direct summnds of T[], then τ M τm. Comining this with Lemm 3.5, for ny oject X in, we hve Hom Λ (X, τx ) = Hom Λ (X, τ X ) Hom /[T[]] (X, τ X ) [T[]](τ X [ ], τ X). Further, y Theorem., we hve Hom Λ (X, τx ) [FT[]](Fτ X [ ], Fτ X) [T[]](X, X[]). (4) In the similr wy, we know Hom Λ (X [ ], X ) [T[]](X[ ], τ X [ ]) = [T[]](X[ ], F X ). Note tht F X ddt[]. Then Hom Λ (X [ ], X ) Hom (X[ ], F X ) Hom (F X, SX[ ]) (Serre dulity) [T[]](F X, τ X) [T[]](X, X[]). (Theorem.) (5) () By equlities (4) nd (5), we know tht X is T[]-rigid oject in if nd only if [T[]](X, X[]) = [T[]](X, X[]) = 0
if nd only if (X, X [ ]) is τ-rigid pir for Λ. () Note tht X = (X, X [ ]) = X nd Λ = T. We know tht () induces ijection etween T[]-cluster tilting ojects in nd support τ-tilting pirs for Λ. By Proposition.(), we hve proved the ssertion. (c) This ssertion is cler. (d) By Theorem.4, we only need to show tht τ-tilting modules whose projective dimension re t most one re precisely tilting modules. This is immedite from the fct tht if the projective dimension of Λ-module M is t most one, then M is τ-rigid if nd only if it is rigid, i.e. Ext Λ (M, M) = 0 (using AR dulity, see [ASS]). We define c-tilt 0 T := { X c-tilt T I X = 0} nd end this section with the following direct consequences. Corollry 3.7. Let e k-liner, Hom-finite tringulted ctegory with Serre functor nd cluster-tilting oject T, nd let Λ = End op (T). Then we hve the following. () For ny T[]-rigid oject X in, X T. In prticulr, for ny mximl rigid oject X in, X T. () Any T[]-rigid oject in is direct summnd of some T[]-cluster tilting oject in. (3) Any sic lmost T[]-cluster tilting oject in is direct summnd of exctly two sic T[]-cluster tilting ojects in. (4) If is -CY, then we hve ijections rigid τ-rigidλ, c-tilt sτ-tiltλ, c-tilt T τ-tiltλ, nd c-tilt 0 T tiltλ. Proof. () This is immedite from the ijection () in Theorem 3.6. () Let X e T[]-rigid oject in, then X = (X, X [ ]) is τ-rigid pir for Λ. We my ssume tht X [ ] = Λe, where e is n idempotent of Λ. By Proposition., we know X is τ-rigid (Λ/ e )-module. Using Theorem.3, we know there exists τ-tilting (Λ/ e )-module S such tht X is direct summnd of S. Thus, (S, Λe) is support τ-tilting pir for Λ nd (X, Λe) is direct summnd of (S, Λe). Hence, it follows from Theorem 3.6 nd Proposition. tht X is direct summnd of some T[]-cluster tilting oject in. (3) This ssertion follows from Theorem.5 nd the ijection () in Theorem 3.6 immeditely. (4) This ssertion follows from Proposition 3.4 nd the fct tht n oject X in is cluster-tilting if nd only if it is rigid nd X = T (see [ZZ]). Remrk 3.8. In tringulted ctegory with cluster-tilting ojects nd Serre functor S, ny cluster-tilting oject is mximl rigid. Conversely, ny mximl rigid oject M stisfying S(M) M[] is cluster-tilting (see [AIR, ZZ, YZZ]). But we do not know whether ny mximl rigid oject in is cluster-tilting.
The first 3 ijections in Corollry 3.7(4) re known y [AIR]. 4 Muttion of T[]-cluster tilting ojects nd n ppliction As previous, we ssume tht is k-liner, Hom-finite tringulted ctegory with clustertilting oject T nd Serre functor S, nd Λ = End op (T) is the opposite lger of the endomorphism lger of T. In this section, we first introduce nturl prtil order on the set of T[]-cluster tilting ojects, then prove our min result on complements for lmost T[]-cluster tilting ojects in. As n ppliction, we give prtil nswer to question posed in [AIR]. 4. A prtil order For n oject M in, we denote y M [T[]] full suctegory of whose ojects re ll such X with tringles M X X η X C X M X [], where M X ddm nd the morphism η X fctors through ddt[]. efinition 4.. For M, N T[]-tilt, we write M N if M [T[]] N [T[]]. The min result in this susection is the following. Theorem 4.. The reltion gives prtil order on T[]-tilt. Proof. We only need to show tht for M, N T[]-tilt, M N nd N M imply M = N. We ssume M [T[]] = N [T[]]. Since N N [T[]] = M [T[]], there exists tringle N η N C N M N [], where M N ddm nd η N fctors through ddt[]. M N M N N η N C N M N [] f T 0 f M[ ] f [T](M[ ], N), there re two morphisms f : M[ ] T 0 nd f : T 0 N such tht f = f f, where T 0 ddt. Thus, η N f = 0 nd there exists : T 0 M N such tht f =. Since M is T[]-cluster tilting, we hve f = f f = ( f ) = 0. This implies tht [T[]](M, N[]) = 0. ully, [T[]](N, M[]) = 0. Hence M N is T[]-rigid. By Corollry 3.7(), we hve T = M = N M N T, which forces tht M N = M = N. Therefore, M = N. The following oservtion is crucil in this susection. 3
Lemm 4.3. For ny two ojects M nd X in, X M [T[]] if nd only if X FcM in modλ. Proof. () If X M [T[]], then there exists tringle M X M X g X η X C X M X [], (6) where M X ddm nd the morphism η X fctors through ddt[]. Applying ( ) to (6), we hve n exct sequence g X η X C X M X [], Since η X fctors through ddt[], we hve Imη X = 0. Thus Img = Kerη X = X, i.e. g is surjective. Becuse M X ddm, we otin X FcM. () Conversely, let X FcM in modλ, then there is surjection M n h X 0. By Theorem., we hve n equivlence /[T[]] modλ, (7) thus there exists morphism f : (M ) n X in such tht f = h. Tke tringle (M ) n X g C (M ) n []. Applying ( ) to it, we get n exct sequence M n h X g C (M ) n []. Becuse h is surjective, we hve Img = 0. Since T is cluster-tilting oject in, y Theorem., we hve the following tringles f T 0 (M ) n f X g C (M ) n [], c T [] T 0 [] where T 0, T ddt. Since the imge of g : Hom (T, X ) Hom (T, C) is zero, we get g = 0. Thus g fctors through T []. Becuse (M ) n ddm, we know X M [T[]], so is X. This lemm gives the following direct consequence. 4
Proposition 4.4. For ny two ojects M nd N in, M [T[]] N [T[]] in if nd only if FcM FcN in modλ. In prticulr, the ijection () in Theorem 3.6 induces n isomorphism of two prtilly ordered sets. We introduce the following notion in tringulted ctegories, which is n nlog of Ext-projective modules in module ctegories. efinition 4.5. Let e tringulted ctegory nd T e suctegory of. We sy tht n oject X T is reltive cluster projective if there exists cluster-tilting oject T such tht [T[]](X, T []) = 0. In this cse, X is lso clled T[]-projective. We first give the following interesting oservtion. Lemm 4.6. Let T e cluster-tilting oject nd M e sic T[]-cluster tilting oject in. Any indecomposle T[]-projective oject in M [T[]] is direct summnd of M. Proof. Let X e n indecomposle T[]-projective oject in M [T[]]. Then [T[]](X, M[]) = 0 nd [T[]](X, X[]) = 0. (8) g Since X M [T[]], we hve tringle M X X η X C X M X [], where M X ddm nd η X fctors through ddt[]. f [T](M[ ], X), there re two morphisms f : M[ ] T 0 nd f : T 0 X such tht f = f f, where T 0 ddt. M[ ] X[ ] f T 0 h T 0 M X g X f η g η X C X M X [] M X X X C X M X [] Figure Figure Since η X fctors through ddt[], we hve η X f = 0. Thus, there exists : T 0 M X such tht f = g. Becuse M is T[]-rigid, we hve f = f f = g( f ) = 0. Therefore h [T[]](M, X[]) = 0. (9) It follows from the equlities (8) nd (9) tht [T[]](M X, (M X)[]) = 0, i.e. M X is T[]-rigid. By Corollry 3.7(), we know tht X dd M. Thnks to this lemm, we cn consider the direct sum of one copy of ech of the indecomposle T[]-projective ojects in M [T[]] up to isomorphism nd denote it y P T[] (M [T[]]). We put Then we hve the following result. T[]-tilt T[] := {M [T[]] M T[]-tilt}. 5
Proposition 4.7. () For ny oject M in T[]-tilt, P T[] (M [T[]]) = M. () there is one-to-one correspondence T[]-tilt T[] T[]-tilt (0) given y T[]-tilt T[] T P T[] (T ) T[]-tilt. The inverse is given y M M [T[]]. Proof. () Let X e n indecomposle T[]-projective oject in M [T[]]. By Lemm 4.6, we know X ddm. On the other hnd, we cn use similr rguments s in the proof of Lemm 4.6 to show tht ech direct summnd of M is T[]-projective oject in M [T[]]. () The ssertion follows from () immeditely. With the nottion of the ove discussion, we give the following result. Theorem 4.8. The ijection in Proposition 4.7 is comptile with ijection in Theorem.6. In other words, we hve commuttive digrm T[]-tilt T[] P T[] ( ) : T[]-tilt Hom (T, ) : : Hom (T, ) f-torsλ P( ) : sτ-tiltλ in which ech mp is ijection. The upper horizontl mp is given in Proposition 4.7, the lower horizontl mp is given in Theorem.6 nd the right verticl mp is given in Theorem 3.6. Proof. We consider the left verticl mp. For ny M [T[]] in T[]-tilt T[], where M T[]-tilt, y Lemm 4.3, we get Hom (T, M [T[]]) = FcM f-torsλ. By Theorem.6, we know tht the left verticl mp is ijective. It is esy to see tht this digrm commutes. 4. Muttion of T[]-cluster tilting ojects Let e k-liner, Hom-finite tringulted ctegory with cluster-tilting oject T nd Serre functor S, nd let Λ = End op (T) e the opposite lger of the endomorphism lger of T. Recll tht for n lmost T[]-cluster tilting oject U in, y Corollry 3.7 we know tht there re two non-isomorphic T[]-cluster tilting ojects M = U X nd N = U Y in. Under ijections in Theorem 3.6, we get two support τ-tilting pirs M = (M, M [ ]) nd Ñ for Λ which hve Ũ s direct summnd. By Proposition.8, we know tht either M > N or M < N. Using Proposition 4.4, we know tht either M > N or M < N. Thus, we cn introduce the following notion. 6
efinition 4.9. For n lmost T[]-cluster tilting oject U in, y Corollry 3.7 nd Proposition 4.4, we know tht there re two T[]-cluster tilting ojects M = U X nd N = U Y in stisfying M > N, where X nd Y re indecomposle. In this cse, we cll (M, N) n U-muttion pir nd X nd Y two complements to U. In this section, we lso sy tht N is left muttion of M nd M is right muttion of N nd we write N = µ L X (M) nd M = µr Y (N). Given n lmost T[]-cluster tilting oject in, the min result in this susection shows tht strting with complement, we cn clculte the other one y n exchnge tringle, which is constructed from left pproximtion or right pproximtion. Theorem 4.0. Let M = U X e sic T[]-cluster tilting oject in, where X is indecomposle. Then we hve the following. () If X U [T[]], we tke tringle Y g U f X h Y[], ( ) where f is miniml right (ddu)-pproximtion. In this cse, Y is nother complement to U nd U Y > M. () If X U [T[]], we tke tringle X g U f Y h X[], ( ) where g is miniml left (ddu)-pproximtion. In this cse, Y is nother complement to U nd U Y < M. To prove this theorem, we need some preprtions. First we need the following esy oservtion. Lemm 4.. The mp h : X Y[] in ( ) fctors through ddt[]. c X Proof. Since X U [T[]], we hve tringle U X X η X C X U X [], where U X ddu nd the morphism η X fctors through ddt[]. Becuse the mp f in ( ) is right (ddu)-pproximtion, there exists i : U X U such tht c X = f i. By the octhedrl xiom, we hve commuttive digrm U X U X i c X Y g U f X h Y[] Y X C X η X Y[] U X [] U X [] of tringles. Thus h fctors through η X, which implies tht h fctors through ddt[]. 7
The following lemm plys n importnt role in the proof of Theorem 4.0. Lemm 4.. The mp g : Y U in ( ) is miniml left (ddm)-pproximtion. In prticulr, g is miniml left (ddu)-pproximtion. Proof. Tke ny mp : Y M 0, where M 0 ddm. By Lemm 4., we my ssume tht there re two morphisms h : X[ ] T 0 nd h : T 0 Y such tht h[ ] = h h, where T 0 ddt. X[ ] h[ ] Y g U f X h Y[] Noticing tht h T 0 h M 0 h[ ] = (h )h [T](X[ ], M 0 ) nd M = U X is T[]-rigid, we get h[ ] = 0. This implies tht fctors through g, nd hence g is left (ddm)-pproximtion. Now we show tht g is left miniml mp. If this were not true, then there would e decomposition U = U U such tht ( ) g0 g = : Y U U. 0 Consider the following tringles Y g 0 U Y h Y[], Thus we get tringle 0 U U 0. Y g=(g 0 0 ) U U Y U Y[], () Compring the tringle ( ), we otin tht X Y U. Since X is indecomposle, we would hve X U ddu. This is contrdiction nd our clim follows. The following results re lso crucil. Lemm 4.3. The oject Y in ( ) is indecomposle nd it is not in ddm. Proof. Suppose tht there is decomposition Y = Y Y with Y nd Y nonzero. Since ddu is functorilly finite in, we cn get two tringles g f g f Y U 3 X Y [] nd Y U 4 X Y [], where g nd g re two miniml left (ddu)-pproximtion. Thus y Lemm 4. the direct sum of these two tringles is Y g f U X h Y[], which implies tht X = X X. Since X is indecomposle, we my ssume tht X = 0 nd X = X. Thus U 3 Y nd f = (0, f ) : U 3 U 4 X. 8
This is contrdiction ecuse f is right miniml mp. Therefore Y is indecomposle. Now we show tht Y is not in ddm. If this were not true, we would hve U Y nd X = 0 y Lemm 4.. This is contrdiction nd our clim follows. Lemm 4.4. Assume tht X nd Z re two non-isomorphic complements to n lmost T[]- cluster tilting oject U in. Then U X > U Z if nd only if X U [T[]]. Proof. By Proposition 4.4, we know tht U X > U Z if nd only if U X > U Z. This is equivlent to X FcU y Proposition.8. Thnks to Lemm 4.3, this is equivlent to X U [T[]]. Now we re redy to prove Theorem 4.0. () We first show tht Y is nother complement to U. Using Lemm 4.3, we only need to show tht U Y is T[]-rigid. Tke ny mp [T[]](U, Y[]). Since fctors through ddt[] nd U is T[]-rigid, we hve g[] = 0. Y g U f X h Y[] g[] U [] U Thus there exists : U X such tht = h. Oserving tht f is right (ddu)- pproximtion, we know there exists : U U such tht = f. Thus = h = (h f ) = 0 nd hence [T[]](U, Y[]) = 0. For ny morphism [T[]](Y, U[]), we know tht there re two morphisms : Y T [] nd : T [] U[] such tht =, where T ddt. X[ ] h[ ] Y g U f X X[ ] h[ ] Y g U f X T [] 3 c T [] c 3 U[] Y[] Figure 3 Figure 4 By Lemm 4., we know h[ ] fctors through ddt, which implies tht h[ ] = 0. Thus there exists 3 : U T [] such tht = 3 g. Becuse U is T[]-rigid, we hve = = ( 3 )g = 0. Hence [T[]](Y, U[]) = 0. It remins to show tht Y is T[]-rigid. In the similr wy (see Figure 4), we know tht, for ny mp c [T[]](Y, Y[]), c = (c c 3 )g. Since c c 3 T[]](U, Y[]) = 0, we hve c = 0 nd [T[]](Y, Y[]) = 0. Therefore, Y is nother complement to U. c 9
In order to show tht U Y > M, y Lemm 4.4, we need to show tht Y U [T[]]. If this were not true, y Lemm 4.3, we would hve Y FcU. Since X U [T[]], similrly we hve X FcU. This contrdicts with Proposition.8 nd our clim follows. () Let Y e nother complement to U. Since X U [T[]], we hve tht U Y < M nd Y U [T[]] By Lemm 4.4. Using () nd Lemm 4., we know the ssertion follows immeditely. 4.3 An ppliction We end this section with n ppliction of muttion. We first recll the following definition. efinition 4.5. [AIR] Let Λ e finite dimensionl k-lger nd U e sic τ-rigid Λ- module. We cll P( (τu)) the Bongrtz completion of U. Note tht U P( (τu)) nd thus ny τ-rigid Λ-module is direct summnd of some τ-tilting Λ-module. The following oservtion is needed in this susection. Proposition 4.6. [AIR, efinition-proposition.6] Let Λ e finite dimensionl k-lger nd let T = X U nd T e support τ-tilting Λ-modules such tht T = µ X (T) for some indecomposle Λ-module X. If T is Bongrtz completion of U, then T > T nd X FcU. In [AIR], the uthors gve the following result to clculte left muttion of support τ-tilting modules y exchnge sequences. Theorem 4.7. Assume tht Λ is finite dimensionl k-lger. Let M Λ = X Λ U Λ e sic τ-tilting Λ-module which is the Bongrtz completion of U Λ, where X Λ is indecomposle. Let X Λ g Λ U Λ f Λ Y Λ 0 ( ) e n exct sequence, where g Λ is miniml left (ddu Λ )-pproximtion. Then we hve the following. () If U Λ is not sincere, then Y Λ = 0. In this cse U Λ = µ L X Λ (M Λ ) holds nd this is sic support τ-tilting Λ-module which is not τ-tilting. () If U Λ is sincere, then Y Λ is direct sum of copies of n indecomposle Λ-module Y nd is not in ddm Λ. In this cse Y U Λ = µ L X Λ (M Λ ) holds nd this is sic τ-tilting Λ-module. Furthermore, the uthors posed the following question. Question 4.8. Is Y Λ lwys indecomposle in Theorem 4.7()? In this susection, we give positive nswer to this question when Λ is n endomorphism lger of cluster-tilting oject. More precisely, there is cluster-tilting oject T in tringulted ctegory with Serre functor S such tht Λ = End op (T). Since M Λ = X Λ U Λ is τ-tilting Λ-module, we know there exists T[]-cluster tilting oject M = X U in such tht X = X Λ nd U = U Λ y Theorem 3.6. Note tht M Λ = X Λ U Λ is the Bongrtz completion of U Λ. By Proposition 4.6, we know X Λ FcU Λ. By Lemm 4.3, we hve X U [T[]]. Thus we cn use the tringle () to otin nother complement Y to U. Our min result of this susection is the following. 0
Theorem 4.9. The exct sequence ( ) in modλ is induced from the tringle () in. Proof. Applying ( ) to () nd using Lemm 4., we hve n exct sequence X g f U Y 0. () Since g is left (ddu)-pproximtion, we know tht g is left (ddu Λ )-pproximtion. Now we show tht g is left miniml mp. If this were not true, then there would e decomposition U = W W nd n exct sequence X g=(g 0 0 ) f W W Y 0 in modλ. Thus W would e direct summnd of Y. Since Y ddu, we know this is contrdiction nd our clim follows. Hence the exct sequences () nd ( ) re coincident. The following consequence is direct, which gives prtil nwser to Question 4.8. Corollry 4.0. Let, Λ e s ove. Then Y Λ is lwys indecomposle in Theorem 4.7(). 5 Exmples Exmple 5.. Let A = kq/i e self-injective lger given y the quiver Q : α β nd I =< αβαβ, βαβα >.
