Saturday s doubleheader begins at 1 p.m. with Sunday s showdown at noon being broadcast on FOX Sports. ON HOUSTON Houston is 8-2 over their last ten games and winners of five straight after sweeping Lamar on Thursday and BYU last weekend. UH leads C-USA in batting (.291) with three of the top six hitters in the league. 2 2013 HOUSTON SOFTBALL HOUSTON vs MARSHALL Andi Williamson has thrown of 238 innings for the Marshall pitching staff this year and sports a record. Williamson leads C-USA in strikeouts with 253 thrown, almost 90 more than the No. 2 pitcher. The league leader in wins, innings and appearances sports a 2.21 ERA this year. Seven batters for Marshall have collected multiple home runs with Alysia Hively leading the pack with seven long balls. The Herd rank No. 3 in the NCAA in steals Kaelynn Greene (22) and Ashley Gue (19) lead the pack in the category. PROMOTIONS Sunday s games is Daddy-Daughter Day with $10 purchasing both an adult and youth ticket. Following the game, fans will be allowed to play catch on the field. ALL-TIME SERIES Houston leads the all-time series The 4-4 tie in 2010 is Houston s only draw on a all-time record. The junior set a school record by being hit by a pitch 21 times in 2012 and the batter is on pace to top that in 2013 with 17 this season. Cullum racked up the bean balls late in 2012, getting plunked 14 times in the final 14 games, including four (school record) in an NCAA Regional game vs. Northwestern. Including her six hit by pitches at Kansas her freshman year, the Conroe (Texas) native ranks No. 19 in NCAA history with 42 in her career. START ME UP Haley Outon (C), Katie St. Pierre (CF) and Reina Gaber (RF) have started every game and logged every inning at their positions for Houston this season. Bailey Watts has made the most starts in the circle with 15. RECORD GRADES The current class of Houston Cougar softball members has increased the team s record GPA each semester since they arrive to campus and the incoming freshman class in the fall only added to that. Thirteen teammates made school honor roll while the team posted a 3.43 cumulative GPA and a 3.59 semester average. Houston was bestowed with the 2012 Conference USA Sport Academic Award for the highest GPA in the conference as 18 members of the team made Commissioner s Honor Roll. WE RE GOING STREAKING NOT The Cougars wins at BYU ended BYU s 42-game home non-conference winning streak that dated back to Houston also ended Texas A&M s 34-game home winning streak in 2012 which at the time was the longest in the NCAA.
