Following strong defensive efforts in Pitt s final conference matchups of regular-season action, freshman Michelle Rossi was named Big East Rookie of the Week for the first time this season. Not alone on the list, sophomore Stephanie Ross added her name to the conference honor roll. After recording a career-high 31 digs against Notre Dame, Rossi went on to collect 12 digs as the Panthers swept DePaul a day later. For the week, Rossi had four assists and 43 digs leading into the upcoming Big East Tournament with a No. 3 seed. Also earning her first nod from the conference, Ross (Dayton, Ohio/Chaminade-Julienne) was named to the Big East s weekly honor roll for her role in Pitt s two conference wins this past weekend. Ross recorded two double-doubles with 24 kills and 11 digs against Notre Dame and 15 kills and 14 digs against DePaul. She led the team in kills in both games with a six kpg average against the Fighting Irish.
