This one replaced all other major storms in the history book and caused so much destruction, death, horror and loss to many Houstonians and others in the great state of Texas. A flood of this magnitude is an 800 year event and it exceeds the specification and design of all reservoirs and levees that are supposed to protect people catastrophic events. Flooded houses, highways, hospitals, schools, businesses completely stopped the day to day functions of the city and it exceeds all predictions and calculations of the National Weather Service and city, State and Federal leaders. Many lives were shattered, over five hundred thousand vehicles were drowned under water, almost two hundred thousand houses were gone under water, many thousands were rescued from drowning and sheltered in large building and churches etc. Texas Governor, Greet Abbott activated the full twelve thousand National Guard members who did an outstanding job to save people from drowning, plucked people from roof tops of their houses, evacuated many patients from flooded Hospitals to other Hospitals. People came out with their boats, large trucks etc. to pick up many going under water, pulled out fearful drowning victims in their own vehicles, carried young and old ones whom they don t even know each other or see ever in life. It was an amazing display of people helping people irrespective of their race, religion, color, faith, social status etc. People normally tends to live in isolation, neighbors separated by fences, people never talk each other, glued to their TV, playing with their ipads, smart phones and usually do not care each other at all due to racial, religious and other differences, but came out and started to talk to people, help cleaning, feed starving neighbors, extend their helping hands to struggling storm victims, even saving lives of strangers. This was an incredible efforts of strangers, neighbors, young and old, Preachers and Leaders all coming out to save and support other human beings. This storm taught people, neighbors and strangers that we need each other, no one is self-sufficient, care, compassion, concern, communication, love and sacrifice are all great characters we must have to survive in society and to face challenges and storms in live together for the good of all. Houston and the people in Texas are so grateful and thankful to everyone around the world who have prayed earnestly, extend their support, calling and offering words of encouragement, care, compassion and love displayed to us during our biggest storm in life. What we do for others will be remembered for ever even if we forget what we lost by the storms in life.
