arxiv: v1 [math.nt] 8 Ar 010 ON THE GRADED RING OF SIEGEL MODULAR FORMS OF DEGREE TWO WITH RESPECT TO A NON-SPLIT SYMPLECTIC GROUP HIDETAKA KITAYAMA Abstract. We will give the graded ring of Siegel modular forms of degree two with resect to a certain discrete subgrou of a non-slit symlectic grou exlicitly. 1. Introduction The urose of this aer is to give exlicitly the graded ring of Siegel modular forms of degree two with resect to a certain discrete subgrou of a non-slit symlectic grou. (Theorem 1.1 below). In this section, we give an introduction for our main result and the way to rove it. Let B be an indefinite quaternion algebra over Q of discriminant D with the canonical involution. We define the grou U(;B) as the unitary grou with resect to the quaternion hermitian sace of rank two, i.e. { ( ) ( )} U(;B) := g GL(;B) t g g =, ( ) ( ) a c a b where t g = for g =. We can regard U(;B) as a subgrou of b d c d S(;R) by fixing an isomorhism U(;B) Q R S(;R). If D 1, then U(;B) is a non-slit Q-form of S(;R). Let O be the maximal order ofb, which is unique u to conjugation. If we take a ositive divisor D 1 of D and ut D := D/D 1, then there is the unique maximal two-sided ideal A of O such that A Z Z = O if D 1 or D, and A Z Z = πo if D, where π is a rime element of O. We treat a discrete subgrou of S(;R) defined by ( ) O A 1 Γ A = Γ(D 1,D ) := U(;B). A O We are interested in studying Siegel modular forms with resect to Γ A. We denote by M k (Γ) the sace of Siegel modular forms of weight k with resect to Γ = Γ A = Γ(D 1,D ). The main theorem of this aer is the following: Theorem 1.1. The graded ring of Siegel modular forms with restect to Γ(1, 6) is given exlicitly by M k (Γ(1,6)) = C[E,E,χ 5a,E 6 ] χ 5b C[E,E,χ 5a,E 6 ] k=0 χ 15 C[E,E,χ 5a,E 6 ] χ 5b χ 15 C[E,E,χ 5a,E 6 ], where we denote by E k (k =,,6) the Eisenstein series which are defined in [Hir99], and denote by χ 5a, χ 5b and χ 15 the Siegel cus forms of weight 5, 5 and 15 1
HIDETAKA KITAYAMA resectively, which are defined in Proosition 1.3 and 1. below. The four modular forms E, E, χ 5a and E 6 are agebraically indeendent over C, and χ 5b and χ 15 can be written by E, E, χ 5a and E 6. Fourier coefficients of these forms are comutable and given in Aendix. Exlicit constructions of the graded ring of Siegel modular forms of slit case have been studied by many authors, for examle, Igusa[Igu6], Ibukiyama[Ibu91], Freitag and Salvati Manni[FS0], Gunji[Gun0] and Aoki and Ibukiyama[AI05], but, as far as the author knows, no results were known for the case of non-slit Q-forms of S(;R). We are short of available methods in the case of non-slit Q-forms because they have only oint cuss. Hirai [Hir99] determined the saces of low weights for Γ(6,1) by using his exlicit formula of Fourier coefficients of the Eisenstein series (cf. Proosition.), Oda lifting (cf. [Oda77],[Sug8]) and Hashimoto s exlicit dimension formula (cf. [Has8]), but he did not obtain the graded ring. Our motivations for this study are as follows. First, we are interested to study a ossible corresondence between Siegel modular forms for slit Q-forms and nonslit Q-forms. In the case where B is definite, Ibukiyama has been studying a generalization of Eichler-Jacquet-Langlands corresondence to the case of S(), by means of comarison of exlicit dimension formulas in [Ibu85],[HI85],[Ibu07], and of Euler factors of sinor L-functions in [Ibu8]. In our revious aer, we obtained an exlicit dimension formula for our grou Γ A. In this aer, we construct Siegel modular forms for Γ A exlicitly. We will give some examles of Euler factors for them on another occasion. Our results would be used for a similar comarison as [Ibu8]. Second, we are interested in studying Siegel modular forms for non-slit Q-forms exlicitly. The result and method of this aer would be used in further investigations. We summarize the way to rove our main theorem, Theorem 1.1. The dimension formula which we obtained in our revious work (see subsection.) lays a crucial role in our work. The first ste to rove Theorem 1.1 is to determine the saces of weight k. Note that the formula can not be alied for the saces of weight k. We will rove Proosition 1. in section 3. Proosition 1.. M 1 (Γ(1,6)) = {0}, M (Γ(1,6)) = CE, M 3 (Γ(1,6)) = {0}, M (Γ(1,6)) = CE CE. The second ste to rove Theorem 1.1 is to construct χ 5a, χ 5b and χ 15. Generally seaking, it is difficult to construct modular forms of odd weight. As for χ 5a and χ 5b, we will rove Proosition 1.3 in section by detailed calculation of Fourier coefficients of the sace of weight 10 Proosition 1.3. The Siegel cus forms χ 5a and χ 5b of weight 5 exist and are determined uniquely u to sign by the following relations: χ 5a = E E E 3 E E E E E E E 6, χ 5b = E E E 3 E E E E E E E 6.
GRADED RING OF SIEGEL MODULAR FORMS OF DEGREE TWO 3 Asforχ 15, wewillroveproosition1.insection5. Wedenoteby{E,E,χ 5a,E 6 } the Siegel cus form of weight 0 obtained from E, E, χ 5a and E 6 by the differential oerator which is reviewed in subsection.5. Proosition 1.. The Siegel cus form {E,E,χ 5a,E 6 } is divisible by χ 5b, so we can define χ 15 := {E,E,χ 5a,E 6 } /χ 5b. Fianlly, we will rove Theorem 1.1 in section 6. We can obtain the generating function of dim C M k (Γ(1,6)) by using the dimension formula and Proosition 1.. It is crucial for the final ste to rove the equality. The author would like to exress his sincere gratitude to Professor Tomoyoshi Ibukiyama for giving him this roblem and various advices. The author also would like to thank Professor Takashi Sugano and Professor Satoshi Wakatsuki for their many helful advices. The author also would like to thank Professor Hiroki Aoki for giving him a various suggestion about the roof of Proosition 1.. The author is suorted by the Grant-in-Aid for JSPS fellows.. Preliminaries.1. Siegel modular forms. We review Sigel modular forms to fix notation. Let S(;R) be the real symlectic grou of degree two, i.e. { ( ) ( )} S(;R) = g GL(,R) g 0 1 t 0 1 g = Let H be the Siegel uer half sace of degree two, i.e. H = {Z M(;C) t Z = Z, Im(Z) is ositive definite }. The grou S(;R) acts on H by γ Z := (AZ +B)(CZ +D) 1 ( ) A B for any γ = S(;R) and Z H C D. Let Γ be a discrete subgrou of S(;R) such that vol(γ\h ) <. We say that a holomorhic function F(Z) on H is a Sigel modular form of weight k of Γ if it satisfies ( ) f(γ Z ) = det(cz +D) k A B f(z), for γ = Γ, Z H C D. If a Siegel modular form F(Z) satisfies det(im(z) 1/ ) f(z) is bounded on H, then we say that F(Z) is a Siegel cus form. We denote by M k (Γ) (res. S k (Γ)) the saces of all Siegel modular forms (res. cus forms) of weight k of Γ. It is known that M k (Γ) and S k (Γ) are finite dimensional vector saces over C... Dimension formula. Let B be an indefinite quaternion algebra over Q. We fix an isomorhism B Q R M(;R) and we identify B with a subalgebra of M(;R). We define U(;B) and Γ(D 1,D ) as in section 1. It is known that U(;B) Q R is isomorhic to S(;R) by φ : U(;B) Q R S(;R)
HIDETAKA KITAYAMA a 1 a b b 1 ( ) φ(g) = a 3 a b b 3 A B c 3 c d d 3, g = U(;B) C D Q R c 1 c d d 1 ( ) ( ) ( ) ( ) a1 a where A = b1 b, B = c1 c, C = d1 d, D = B a 3 a b 3 b c 3 c d 3 d Q R, and we can identify Γ(D 1,D ) with a discrete subgrou of S(;R) such that vol(γ(d 1,D )\H ) <. In our revious aer [Kit], we obtained an exlicit formula for dimensions of the saces S k (Γ(D 1,D )) of weight k 5 for general (D 1,D ), including the vectorvalued case. If we aly this formula to S k (Γ(1,)) for an odd rime number, then we have (k )(k 1)(k 3) dim C S k (Γ(1,)) = 7 3 ( 1) ( 1) + ( 1)k (8+ ( ) ( 1 )+(k 3)(8 1 ) ) ( ( ) 1 ) + [0, 1,1;3] ( k 3 + k 3 ( 3 1 3(1 ( ( ( 3 )( 1 5 ( 3 )( ( ) ) ) 1 ) 3 (1 ( 3 + [1,0,0, 1,0;5] k (1 ( 5 5) ) + [1,0,0, 1;] k )) ) ( ( 3 )) )) )) ) ( ( 3 { 0 if 1,7 mod 8 1 if 3,5 mod 8 ( 1) k / if = 3 0 if 1,11 mod 1 [0,1, 1;3] k if 5 mod 1 ( 1) k if 7 mod 1, where ( ) is the Legendre symbol and [a0,...,a m 1 ;m] k is the function on k which takes the value a i if k i mod m. From this formula, we have dim C S k (Γ(1,6)) as follows. Our formula is not valid for k. In the following table, we formally substitute k in the formula. k dim Fourier exansion. Let A be a maximal two-sided ideal of O. Since the class number of O is one, we can write A = Oπ = πo for some π O such that Nπ = D 1 where A corresonds to (D 1,D ) as in section 1. We define a threedimensional Q vector sace B 0 := {x B Tr(x) = 0} and define a lattice ( A 1) 0 and its dual lattice by ( A 1 ) 0 := B 0 A 1 (, A 1 ) 0 := {y B 0 Tr(xy) Z for any x ( A 1) 0 }. Arakawa roved the following roosition in his master thesis [Ara75, Proosition 10] by the same way as, for examle, Maaß[Maa71, 13].
GRADED RING OF SIEGEL MODULAR FORMS OF DEGREE TWO 5 Proosition.1 ([Ara75],[Hir99]). Let Γ A be the discrete subgrou of S(;R) defined in section 1 and k be a ositive integer. Then f(z) M k (Γ A ) has the following Fourier exansion f(z) = C f (0)+ C f (η)e[tr(ηzj)], (e[z] := e πiz ) η (A 1 ) 0 ηj>0 ( ) 0 1 where J = and ηj > 0 means that ηj is ositive definite when we regard η 1 0 as an element of M(;R). In articular, f(z) S k (Γ A ) is equivalent to C f (0) = 0... Eisenstein series. By alying the method of Shimura [Shi83], Hirai [Hir99] studiedtheeisensteinseriese k (k : even)onγ(d 1,D )andobtainedanexlicit formula of Fourier coefficients of it. (Proosition. below). We define ( A 1 ) 0 rim := { η ( A 1) 0 n 1 η ( A 1) 0 for any integer n }. For η ( A 1) 0, we denote by d η and χ η the discriminant and the Dirichlet character of Q(η)/Q and denote by B m (res. B m,χη ) the m-th Bernoulli (res. the generalized Bernoulli) number. We define ositive integers a η and f η by a 1 η η ( A 1) 0 rim, (a 1 η η) = d η f η. We ut a η, = ord (a η ), f η, = ord (f η ). Then the following roosition holds. Proosition. ([Hir99] Theorem 3.10). Let k be an even ositive integer. Then the Eisenstein series E k has the following Fourier exansion. E k (Z) = 1+ C(η)e[Tr(ηZ)], η (A 1 ) 0 ηj>0 where C(η) = kb k 1,χ η (1 χ η ()k 1 )(1 χ η ()k ) 1 B k B k k 1 k 1 F (η,k), 1 D 1 D a η, a η, 1 (k 3)t +(1+χ η ()) (k 3)t+k 1 if D 1, t=0 a η, a η, 1 (k 3)t χ η () (k 3)t+k if D, F (η,k) = t=0 t=0 a η, a η,+f η, t a η,+f η, t 1 (k 3)l+(k 1)t χ η () t=0 l=0 l=0 if D. We see from Proosition.1 that t=0 M k (Γ(D 1,D )) = S k (Γ(D 1,D )) M k (Γ(D 1,D )) = S k (Γ(D 1,D )) CE k (k 3)l+(k 1)t+k if k is odd, and if k is even..5. Rankin-Cohen tye differential oerators. We quote the following roosition from Aoki and Ibukiyama[AI05]. 1 For Z H, we write the (i,j) comonent 1 In [AI05], Proosition.3 has been roved in the case of general degree n.
6 HIDETAKA KITAYAMA of Z by z ij. For Siegel modular forms f i M ki (Γ) of weight k i (1 i ), we define a new function {f 1,f,f 3,f } by k 1 f 1 k f k 3 f 3 k f f 1 f f 3 f z {f 1,f,f 3,f } = 11 z 11 z 11 z 11 f 1 f f 3 f. z 1 z 1 z 1 z 1 f 1 z z z z f f 3 f Proosition.3(AokiandIbukiyama[AI05]). (i) The above function {f 1,f,f 3,f } is a Siegel cus form of weight k 1 +k +k 3 +k +3. (ii) f 1,f,f 3,f are algebraiclly indeendent if and only if {f 1,f,f 3,f } Proof of Proosition 1. In this section, we will rove Proosition 1., that is, we will determine the saces of weight k. Note that the dimension formula is not valid for weight k. (See subsection.). We reare to calculate Fourier coefficients. If we ut B := Q+Qa+Qb+Qab, a = 6,b = 5,ab = ba, then B is an indefinite quaternion algebra over Q of discriminant 6, which is unique u to isomorhism. Let O be the maximal order of B, which is unique u to conjugacy. It is known by Ibukiyama [Ibu7],[Ibu8] that O can be taken as O = Z+Z 1+b +Z a(1+b) +Z (1+a)b. 5 If we ut A = ao, then A is the unique maximal two-sided ideal corresonding to (1, 6). By a straightforward calculation, we obtain ( A 1 ) 0 = Z 5a+b+ab 10 +Z b +Za. For η = x(5a+b+ab)/60+yb/1+za/6 ( A 1) 0, we denote it by η = [x,y,z] and we can see from a direct calculation that the condition ηj > 0 is equivalent to { x > 0, and m η := (5x +5y +z xy +zx) > 0. We have the following modular forms which are obtained as roducts of Eisenstein series E k s: weight : E, weight : E,E, weight 6 : E 3,E E,E 6, weight 8 : E,E E,E E 6,E,E 8. For the sake of simlicity of Fourier coefficients, we use the following ϕ k instead of E k (k =,,6,8): ϕ = E, ϕ = (E ϕ ), ϕ 6 = (E 6 ϕ 3 ) ϕ ϕ, ϕ 8 = E 8, then we have Fourier coefficients of them as in the following tables.

( E8 = E E E E E E ) We can rove Proosition 1. by using the saces of weight 6 and 8. We rove the following lemma. Lemma 3.1. If k( 6) is a ositive divisor of 6, then there are no non-zero cus forms of weight k. Proof. We assume that there is a non-zero cus form f of weight k. Then the Fourier coefficients of f S k (Γ(1,6)) are: C f (0,0,0) = C f (0,0,0) C f (0,0,0) = 0, C f (,1, 1) = C f (0,0,0) C f (,1, 1) = 0, C f (,0, 1) = C f (0,0,0) C f (,0, 1) = 0,
8 HIDETAKA KITAYAMA so the Fourier coefficients of f 6/k S 6 (Γ(1,6)) are also C f 6/k(0,0,0) = C f 6/k(,1, 1) = C f 6/k(,0, 1) = 0. Hence we have f 6/k = 0 because of the table of Fourier coefficients of the sace of weight 6 on age 7, but this contradicts the assumtion that f is not zero. Proof of Proosition 1.. Noting that modular forms of odd weight are necessarily cus forms, we see that M 1 (Γ(1,6)) = M 3 (Γ(1,6)) = {0} by Lemma 3.1. Also we see that M (Γ(1,6)) = CE by Lemma 3.1 because if there is a non-zero element f of M (Γ(1,6)) which is linearly indeendent of E, then we can assume that f is a cus form by adjusting it by E. Next, we rove M (Γ(1,6)) = CE CE. We assume that there is a non-zero element f M (Γ(1,6)) which is linearly indeendent of E and E. Then we can assume that C f (0,0,0) = C f (,1, 1) = 0 by adjusting them by E and E (cf. the table on age 7). Then the Fourier coefficients of f S 8 (Γ(1,6)) are C f (0,0,0) = C f (0,0,0) C f (0,0,0) = 0, C f (,1, 1) = C f (0,0,0) C f (,1, 1) = 0, C f (,0, 1) = C f (0,0,0) C f (,0, 1) = 0, C f (,, ) = C f (0,0,0) C f (,, )+C f (,1, 1) = 0. Hence we have f = 0, and therefore f = 0. This contradicts the assumtion.. Proof of Proosition 1.3 In this section, we will rove Proositin 1.3, that is, we will determine the saces of weight 5 and 10. By the dimension formulla, we have dim C M 5 (Γ(1,6)) = and dim C M 10 (Γ(1,6)) = 7. We can obtain a 6-dimensional subsace V of M 10 (Γ(1,6)) by roducts of Eisenstein series E k s: V = CE 5 CE 3 E CE E 6 CE E CE E 6 CE 10. We define ϕ, ϕ and ϕ 6 as in section 3 and define ϕ 10 by ϕ 10 = (E 10 ϕ 5 ) ϕ 3 ϕ ϕ ϕ ϕ ϕ ϕ ϕ 6. Then we have Fourier coefficients of them as in the following table. m η η 5 ϕ ϕ 3 ϕ ϕ ϕ 6 ϕ ϕ ϕ ϕ 6 ϕ 10 0 [0, 0, 0] [, 1, 1] [, 0, 1] [,, ] [, 0, ] [, 1, ] [5, 1, ] [6, 3, 3] [6, 0, 3]
GRADED RING OF SIEGEL MODULAR FORMS OF DEGREE TWO 9 0 [6,, 3] [6, 1, 3] [8,, ] [7,, ] [7, 1, ] [8, 0, ] Lemma.1. For a non-zero element f M 5 (Γ(1,6)), there is a non-zero element χ f V such that χ f is divisible by f (i.e. the function χ f /f is holomorhic). Proof. We can take some g M 5 (Γ(1,6)) such that M 5 (Γ(1,6)) = Cf Cg. We have either f V or f V. If f V, Lemma.1 holds for χ f = f. Hereafter we assume f V. Then we have M 10 (Γ(1,6)) = V Cf. We have either fg V or fg V. If fg V, then Lemma.1 holds for χ f = fg. If fg V, we can write fg = x + r f for some x V and some r C. Hence we have V x = fg r f = f(g r f) and x 0. We see that Lemma.1 holds for χ f = x. Lemma.. We can find a basis χ 5a, χ 5b of M 5 (Γ(1,6)) which satisfy the following conditions: C χ5a (0,0,0) = 0, C χ5a (,1, 1) = 0, C χ5a (,0, 1) = 1, C χ5b (0,0,0) = 0, C χ5b (,1, 1) = 1, C χ5b (,0, 1) = 0. Proof. Let f,g be a basis of M 5 (Γ(1,6)). We see from Lemma.1 that we can take r, s C so that f(rf +sg) V {0}. We ut Fourier coefficients of them as C f (,1, 1) = α, C f (,0, 1) = β, C g (,1, 1) = γ, C g (,0, 1) = δ We assume α = γ = 0. Then Fourier coefficients of h := f(rf +sg) are as follows: C h (0,0,0) = C f (0,0,0) C f (0,0,0) = 0, C h (,1, 1) = C f (0,0,0) C f (,1, 1)+C f (,1, 1) C f (0,0,0) = 0, C h (,0, 1) = C f (0,0,0) C f (,0, 1)+C f (,0, 1) C f (0,0,0) = 0, C h (,, ) = C f (0,0,0) C f (,, )+C f (,, ) C f (0,0,0) +C f (,1, 1) C f (,1, 1) = 0, C h (,0, ) = C f (0,0,0) C f (,0, )+C f (,0, ) C f (0,0,0) +C f (,0, 1) C f (,0, 1) = 0, C h (,1, ) = C f (0,0,0) C f (,1, )+C f (,1, ) C f (0,0,0) +C f (,0, 1) C f (,1, 1)+C f (,1, 1) C f (,0, 1) = 0, wheref := rf+sg. Hence wehaveh = 0 becauseofthe tableoffouriercoefficients of the sace of weight 10. This contradicts the above. Hereafter we assume that either α or γ is non-zero. We can assume that α = 0 and γ = 1. If β = 0, then the Fourier coefficients of h satisfy the same condition as above. So we have β 0. We can assume β = 1 and δ = 0.
10 HIDETAKA KITAYAMA Proof of Proosition 1.3. Wetakeabasisχ 5a andχ 5b whichsatisfythecondition of Lemme.. Then we can verify that Fourier coefficients are as follows: C χ5a (0,0,0) = 0, C χ5a (,1, 1) = 0, C χ5a (,0, 1) = 1, C χ5a (3,0, ) = 0, C χ5a (3,0, 1) = 0, C χ5a (3,1, ) = 1, C χ5a (3,1, 1) = 1, C χ5b (0,0,0) = 0, C χ5b (,1, 1) = 1, C χ5b (,0, 1) = 0. C χ5b (3,0, ) = 1, C χ5b (3,0, 1) = 1, C χ5b (3,1, ) = 0, C χ5b (3,1, 1) = 0. By Lemma.1, we have f := χ 5a (αχ 5a +βχ 5b ) V for some α, β C. Fourier coefficients of f are C f (0,0,0) = C f (,1, 1) = C f (,0, 1) = C f (,, ) = 0, C f (,0, ) = α, C f (,1, ) = β by the same calculation as in the roof of Lemma.. We can see from the table of Fourier coefficients of the sace of weight 10 that f = αϕ ϕ 6 +(α+β)ϕ 10 and C f (5,1, ) = α β. On the other hand, we have C f (5,1, ) = C χ5a (0,0,0) C f (5,1, )+C χ5a (5,1, ) C f (0,0,0) +C χ5a (,0, 1) C f (3,1, 1)+C χ5a (3,1, 1) C f (,0, 1) +C χ5a (,1, 1) C f (3,0, 1)+C χ5a (3,0, 1) C f (,1, 1) = α, where f = αχ 5a + βχ 5b. Hence we have β = 0, and therefore we can assume f = χ 5a and f = ϕ 10 ϕ ϕ 6 = E E E 3 E E E E E E E 6. If χ 5a χ 5b V, then we have χ 5a (χ 5a + χ 5b ) V and this contradicts the above argument. Hence χ 5a χ 5b V and M 10 (Γ(1,6)) = V Cχ 5a χ 5b. We ut χ 5b = v +rχ 5a χ 5b for some v V and r C. Then v = χ 5b (χ 5b rχ 5a ) and C f (0,0,0) = C f (,1, 1) = C f (,0, 1) = C f (,0, ) = 0, C f (,, ) = 1, C f (,1, ) = r by the same calculation as above. Hence we have v = ϕ ϕ +ϕ ϕ 6 +( r+1)ϕ 10 and C v (5,1, ) = r. On the other hand, we have C v (5,1, ) = C χ5b (0,0,0) C v (5,1, )+C χ5b (5,1, ) C v (0,0,0) =, +C χ5b (,0, 1) C v (3,1, 1)+C χ5b (3,1, 1) C v (,0, 1) +C χ5b (,1, 1) C v (3,0, 1)+C χ5b (3,0, 1) C v (,1, 1) where v = χ 5b +rχ 5a. Hence we have r = 0, and therefore v = χ 5b and χ 5b = ϕ ϕ +ϕ ϕ 6 +ϕ 10 = E E E 3 E E E E E E E 6.
GRADED RING OF SIEGEL MODULAR FORMS OF DEGREE TWO Proof of Proosition 1. In this section, we will rove Proosition 1., that is, we will determine the saces of weight 15 and 0. By the result of the dimension formula, we have dim C M 0 (Γ(1,6)) = 8. We canverify that the subsacev ofm 0 (Γ(1,6)) sanned by all roducts of E, E, χ 5a, χ 5b and E 6 is of dimension 6. If we ut δ 0a := {E,E,χ 5a,E 6 } and δ 0b := {E,E,χ 5b,E 6 }, then we can verify that the comlementary sace of V in M 0 (Γ(1,6)) is sanned by δ 0a and δ 0b by calculating Fourier coefficients of them. By Proosition 1.3, we see that E, E, E 6 and χ 5a χ 5b are algebraically deendent over C, so we have {E,E,E 6,χ 5a χ 5b } = 0. By an elementary roerty of the differential calculus, we have {E,E,χ 5a,E 6 } = χ 5a {E,E,χ 5a,E 6 } = {E,E,χ 5b,E 6 } = χ 5b {E,E,χ 5b,E 6 }. Hence we see that there is a cus form χ 15 such that {E,E,χ 5a,E 6 } = χ 5b χ 15 and {E,E,χ 5b,E 6 } = χ 5a χ 15. By the result of the dimension formula, we have dim C M 15 (Γ(1,6)) = 13. We see that the subsace U of M 15 (Γ(1,6)) sanned by all roducts of E, E, χ 5a, χ 5b and E 6 is of dimension 1. If χ 15 U, then we see that δ 0a = χ 5b χ 15 V, but this is not the case. Hence we see that M 15 (Γ(1,6)) = U Cχ Proof of Theorem 1.1 In this section, we will rove Theorem 1.1. First, we calculate the generating function of dim C M k (Γ(1,6)). From the dimension formula in subsection. and Proosition 1., we see that dim C M k (Γ(1,6))t k = 1+t +t + dim C S k (Γ(1,6))t k + t k k=0 = k=5 (1+t 5 )(1+t 15 ) (1 t )(1 t )(1 t 5 )(1 t 6 ). By the results of the revious sections, we have obtained (1) M k (Γ(1,6)) C[E,E,χ 5a,χ 5b,E 6,χ 15 ]. k=0 We do not mean that six modular forms in the right side of (1) are algebraically indeendent over C. We need to determine the recise structure of the right side of (1). Lemma 6.1. (i) E, E, χ 5a and E 6 are algebraically indeendent over C. (ii) χ 5b, χ 15 C[E,E,χ 5a,E 6 ]. (iii) 1 and χ 5b are linearly indeendent over C[E,E,χ 5a,E 6 ]. (iv) 1 and χ 15 are linearly indeendent over C[E,E,χ 5a,χ 5b,E 6 ]. k=3
1 HIDETAKA KITAYAMA Proof. (i)thisisfollowedfromproosition.3because{e,e,χ 5a,E 6 } =χ 5b χ (ii) This is roved by comarison of Fourier coefficients. In fact, we give the exression of χ 5a and χ 5b by E, E, χ 5a and E 6 in Aendix. (iii) If α +βχ 5b = 0 for α,β C[E,E,χ 5a,E 6 ], then we have α = β χ 5b. We see from (i) that α and β can be regarded as the squares of olynonials with four variables E, E, χ 5a and E 6, while χ 5b is not so. Hence we have α = β = 0. (iv) If f +χ 5b g = χ 15 (h+χ 5b j) for f,g,h,j C[E,E,χ 5a,E 6 ], then we have (fg χ 15 hj)χ 5b = f χ 5b g +χ 15 h +χ 5b χ 15 j. We see from (ii) and (iii) that () (3) fg = χ 15 hj, f +χ 5b g = χ 15 (h +χ 5b j ). We can see that χ 15 is irreducible as a olynomial with variables E, E, χ 5a and E 6. We see from () that either f or g is divisible by χ 15. We see from (3) that both f and g are divisible by χ 15. By dividing () and (3) by χ 15, we obtain equations of the same shae as () and (3). We can reeat this infinitely, so f, g, h and j must be 0. We see from Lemma 6.1 that C[E,E,χ 5a,χ 5b,E 6,χ 15 ] = C[E,E,χ 5a,χ 5b,E 6 ] χ 15 C[E,E,χ 5a,χ 5b,E 6 ] = C[E,E,χ 5a,E 6 ] χ 5b C[E,E,χ 5a,E 6 ] C[E,E,χ 5a,E 6 ] χ 5b C[E,E,χ 5a,E 6 ]. Hence the generatingfunction of dim C M k (Γ(1,6)) is the same as that of dimensions of right side of (1). We have comleted the roof of Theorem Aendix We give a table of Fourier coefficients of the generators of k=0 M k(γ(1,6)) in Theorem 1.1. η E E E 6 χ 5a χ 5b χ 15 (0,0,0) (,1,-1) 8 960/13 016/ (,0,-1) 7 160/ / (,,-) / / (,0,-) / / (,1,-) / / (5,1,-) / / (6,3,-3) 19 30/ / (6,0,-3) / / (6,,-3) / / (6,1,-3) / / (8,,-) / / (7,,-) / / (7,1,-) / / (8,0,-) / /

In fact, we have the following relations. These are followed from the comarison of Fourier coefficients. χ 5b = (5005/8198) E 5 (15587/169896) E 3 E (33/169896) E E 6 +(1859/5383) E E +(33/169896) E E 6 +χ 5a χ 15 = ( / ) E 15 ( / ) E 13 E +( / ) E 1 E 6 +( / ) E 11 E ( / ) E 10 E E 6 +( / ) E 10 χ 5a ( / ) E 9 E 3 +( / ) E 9 E 6 +( / ) E 8 E E 6 ( / ) E 8 E χ 5a +( / ) E 7 E ( / ) E 7 E E 6 +( / ) E 7 E 6 χ 5a ( / ) E 6 E 3 E 6 +( / ) E 6 E 6 3 +( / ) E 6 E χ 5a ( / ) E 5 E 5 +( / ) E 5 E E 6 (5607/505791) E 5 E E 6 χ 5a ( / ) E 5 χ 5a +( / ) E E E 6 ( / ) E E E 6 3 ( / ) E E 3 χ 5a +(10396/597753) E E 6 χ 5a +( / ) E 3 E 6 ( / ) E 3 E 3 E 6 +( / ) E 3 E 6
