They were tired of replacing broken dishes and glassware and lost silverware. Before abandoning their successful business, however, they decided to try a new system of preparing and serving food. Their remodeled restaurant contrasted with the original. It served just hamburgers, cheeseburgers, french fries, and drink. Paper wrappers and paper cups replaced the dishes and glassware. Silverware wasn't needed because the restaurant didn't serve any food that required a knife, fork, or spoon to eat. Gone also were the professional cooks, instead, food preparation was divided among several workers, each with a specific task. One worker grilled the hamburgers, another wrapped them in paper, a third cooked french fries, and another poured drinks. There were no waitresses. Customers ordered and paid at the counter then carried their own food to a table. This new system was like a factory assembly line. Increasing the speed of food preparation increased the kitchen's output and lowered its costs. The system revolutionized the restaurant business and introduced the term "fast food". 93- What is the best title for this passage? 1) The first replacements of cooks. 2) Maurice and Richard at their work. 3) The first owner of a restaurant. 4) Introduction of the first "fast food". 94- Why did two brothers want to start a new system of serving food? 1) They wanted to earn more money. 2) They didn't have experienced cooks. 3) They felt they were tired of the environment in which they lived. 4) They were tired of replacing broken dishes, glassware, and lost silverware. 95- The underlined word "abandon" is closest in meaning to.... 1) search 2) leave 3) start 4) open 96- All of the following are true in terms of the new restaurant EXCEPT: 1) Only did it serve hamburger and cheeseburger. 2) It used paper wrappers and paper cups. 3) Each worker had a specific task. 4) Customers themselves took their food to a table.

12 94 Passage II: 11 The most important part of having a normal weight isn't looking a certain way, it's feeling good and staying healthy. Having too much body fat can be harmful to the body in many ways. The good news is that it's never too late to make changes in eating and exercise habits to control your weight, and those changes don't have to be as big as you might think. Being obese and being overweight are not exactly the same thing. An obese person has a large amount of extra body fat, not just a few extra kilos. People who are obese are overweight and at risk for serious health problems. People gain weight when the body takes in more calories than it burns off. Those extra calories are stored as fat. The amount of weight gain that results in obesity doesn't happen in a few weeks or months. One of the most important factors in weight gain is a sedentary lifestyle. People are much less active today than they used to be, with televisions, computers, and video games. Not only does it make a person feel tired and uncomfortable, it can wear down joints and put extra stress on other parts of the body. When a person is carrying extra weight, it's harder to keep up with friends, play sports, or just walk between classes at school. 97- What's the main idea of this passage? 1) eating habits 2) exercise habits 3) obesity 4) the new lifestyle 98- According to the passage, which item isn't a way to control weight? 1) Making changes in eating habits. 2) Having a good feeling about yourself. 3) Making changes in one's lifestyle. 4) Making changes in exercise habits. 99- What's the difference between obese and overweight? 1) There is no particular difference. 2) An obese person has more extra weight. 3) An overweight person has more extra weight. 4) An overweight person is more likely to have health problems What's the meaning of the underlined word "sedentary"? 1) stressful 2) active 3) uncomfortable 4) without moving ( ( ) )
