2 Teaching Experience with selected teaching activities 1. Courses taught: The following undergraduate and graduate level courses are taught at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) and Virginia Tech (VT) with full responsibility, including determining and grading assignments, developing tests, holding office hours, and assigning course grades: (a) Graduate level courses taught at UNO: Math 8250 (Partial differential equations) as standard and hybrid, Math 8500 (Numerical analysis I), Math 8510 (Numerical analysis II), Math 8336 (numerical methods), Math 8336 (Introduction to partial differential equations), Math 8356 (Ordinary differential equations), Math 8406 (Finite element methods). (b) Undergraduate level courses taught at UNO: Math 1950 (Calculus I), Math 1960 (Calculus II), Math 1970 (Calculus III), Math 2050 (Applied Linear Algebra), Math 2350 (Differential equations) as standard and hybrid, Math 3300 (Numerical methods), Math 4300 (Introduction to partial differential equations) as standard and hybrid. Creation of two hybrid online courses: Developed and implemented two new hybrid online courses for both undergraduates and graduates: (i) Math 4330/8336(Introduction to Partial Differential Equations) and (ii) Math 8250 (Partial Differential Equations). 3. Creation of a new online course: Created a completely online differential equations course (Math 2350) for undergraduates. 4. Creation of new courses: Developed two new courses (i) Math 4400/8406(Finite Element Methods) and (ii) Math 4350/8356 (Ordinary differential equations) for both undergraduates and graduates. 5. Creation of a new undergraduate concentration in Computational Mathematics: Created new undergraduate (BA and BS) concentrations in computational mathematics. 6. Creation of a new graduate concentration in Computational Mathematics: Created new graduate (MA and MS) concentrations in computational mathematics. 7. Independent Study courses: During my time at UNO, I offered and taught 22 independent study projects (8 for graduate and 14 for undergraduate) as an additional way to offer new courses (independent teaching and research courses) for undergraduate and graduate students. Each independent study course is a self-designed course of study worth 3-credit hours. The special topics studied are related to applied and computational mathematics (advanced topics and topics we do not offer in our curriculum program). 8. Students research projects: I advised more than 20 undergraduate and graduate students on various projects (6 months to one year). These projects are mixture of teaching and research. Typically these students present their work at conferences and participate in the student research and creative activity fair at the university of Nebraska at Omaha. 9. Honors credit for undergraduate students: I supervised and graded many honors credit projects related to the following undergraduate courses: Math 1960 (Calculus II), Math 2350 (differential equations), and Math 3300 (Numerical methods). 10. Honors credit for graduate students: I supervised and graded one honors credit project related to Math 8250 (graduate partial differential equations). 11. Service as adviser for M.S. thesis: I have served as a main adviser for 2 M.A. students. 2

It is part of the project UNO and MCC STEPping Together, NSF STEP (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Talent Expansion Program), July Funded. Research Experience My research interests are in numerical analysis, scientific computing, computational and applied Mathematics. More specifically, my expertise and work experience are in the following areas: numerical methods for ordinary differential equations (ODEs), partial differential equations (PDEs), and stochastic differential equations (SDEs) arising in several applications in biology, physics, and engineering, development and implementation of efficient high order numerical methods for ODEs, PDEs, and SDEs, including finite element (FE) methods, discontinuous Galerkin (DG) methods, and local DG (LDG) methods, derivation of a priori error estimates and convergence rates for high order numerical methods, explore the superconvergence properties of numerical schemes (one of the applications of these superconvergence results is the design of asymptotically exact a posteriori error indicators, which are useful in adaptive computations.), derivation of a posteriori error estimators, which are of great practical applications as they allow us to know how close we are from the exact solution without actually knowing it, construction of adaptive mesh refinement (AMR) algorithms, development of numerical schemes with applications to wave propagation problems, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), biology, and finance.
