ISS. 7 NOVEMBER Junior Journalists at Central Neighbourhood House The CNH Times is a newsletter that features stories, poems, and illustrations from the creative efforts of our children at Central Neighbourhood House s after-school Kidz Klub program with help from CNH staff and Frontier College tutors. 2 VOL. 2. ISS. 7 NOVEMBER THE ROBOT UNICORN By: Ubah and Kaitlyn (Frontier College volunteer) Once upon a time there was a little girl. She found a unicorn. They went on a trip to Allen Gardens. They went into the jungle and the unicorn started to become a robot. And after there was a dog in the jungle and the robot unicorn played fetch with the dog. The robot liked the dog. The End. SPOOKY FILL IN THE BLANK By: Kenzie It was the evening of Halloween and the sun had already set. Outside, the streets were dark and quiet. Too quiet Friends Gaby and Kenzie were just setting out for their night of trick-or-treating when suddenly, a zombie apocalypse came down the street. Quick! yelled Gaby, we need to run to the bomb shelter. The best friends immediately ran to the bomb shelter. Before long, they came to the realization that it was locked, and thought that they were going to get eaten by zombies. But then, out of nowhere the lock broke! Did you hear that? asked Kenzie. Things were starting to get just a teeny bit exciting, so the best friends decided to find the zombie potion. Off they went. They knew they would do everything they could to find the zombie potion. Maybe if they were lucky, they would be able to use it for the death of the zombies. And you know what happened next? Well, to be honest, I m not exactly sure, but legend has it that zombies are invincible!!!! And they were DOOMED!!! ONCE UPON A TIME By: Adele There was a ghost, and a ducky catching people. Then, there was a marker was walking and a pen. A water bottle was walking also there was a candy on the floor. Somebody was a holding a book. The monster was walking too. He started eating candy on the floor. Yuck!!!! He was sick!!!! He had a tummy ache. A pillow was on the floor, it started talking to the sick monster. The talking pillow ate donuts with the sick monster. The end.

A compound word is made when two smaller words join forces to make a longer new word with a new meaning. By: Omar By: Evie By: Anisah THE GIANTS By: Preston, Khalid and Jahsiah One day there was a boy named Preston and Khalid and Jahsiah. Preston turned into a giant and he ate Khalid. Khalid did not taste good so the giant spit him out. After the giant ate Khalid, Khalid ran away screaming AAAHHHHHH. And then another giant came named Jahsiah. Khalid hurt the giants and the Preston giant fell into the water and the Jahsiah giant ran away. The End CUTE PUPPY AND A HORSE By Emily Once upon a time there was a cute puppy and a horse at the fair. They saw the last hotdog at a stand they both wanted it and they both split it in half. So they made friends. They both played together. They had dinner together and then they had a sleepover. The next morning they went to school together. The End

4 VOL. 2. ISS. 7 NOVEMBER Wacky Stories!! THE THREE CHICKS By: Emily Jumping up and down with glasses and they are going to the circus. The hats got lost but the chicks found their mom. The end. SUPER TEAM! By: Marco Marco check out this super team. I wonder where they are going? What is their mission? Who are they going to save? There was a dog and there was a cat. The dog had glasses and the cat was on the dog s back. The End YANNEO THE CAT By: Yann and Neo Once upon a time, there was a cat named YannNeo and he loved pizza. So he decided to be pizza for Halloween but he went crazy and ate all the pizza in the galaxy. The End BANANA BRUSHING BACK By: Omar The man likes to brush his back with a banana or a bread. He likes to do it everyday. Even when he wake up. He brushes his back with the banana or bread because it gets itchy. The End

5 VOL. 2. ISS. 7 NOVEMBER BAGUETTE MAN By: Kenzie Once upon a time.. there was a man with an IQ of an ant! So he was SO DUMB that he never took a shower or SHAVED! So one day he said mom you smell!! So BAD! Then his mom said Uh I smell like lavender it s you who smells. The son was SURPRISED!! So he NEVER took a shower so he doesn t know what to use! So he decided to USE a.. wait for it A BAGUETTE that s right a Baguette! So he took a Baguette from the kitchen and to shave he used a pair of scissors!! So he got in the shower for the first time in forever. Then he got confused so he used scissors to wash and the Baguette to shave. THE END. MAX THE HERO!! By: Angelina One day there was a guy named Max. Max was a hero and a very good hero he loved being a hero! One day he woke up and said I don t feel well he said. So he went outside and looking for evil. He saw the baddest villain ever in the whole world but the bad guy had a potion in his pocket so Max turned into a superhero. He fought him he got punched he got kicked a lot of times so the bad guy pulled out his potion and put the potion on him he said AHHHHHH!!! OH no. Wake up said the bad guy. Where am I? said Max. The potion needs one more hour said the bad guy. What one more hour, hour of what said Max. One more hour until you re EVIL said the bad guy. What?! No! You can t do that I m the hero of the word, who will save the world said Max. So I can RULE THE WORLD MUHAHAHA!!!!! One hour later Max just woke up. Max just turned evil but will he break the potion or will he stay evil forever or will he go back to being a superhero? So the bad guy said my plan is completed. Time to RULE THE WORLD with Max s powers nothing can stop me!!!! Max please get the potion from my desk said the bad guy. Max said yes sir so he went to get the potion. He gave the potion to the bad guy and he said thank you. No bad guys don t say thank you! Now go to sleep Max so you can use your powers when it s training said the bad guy. Yes sir! So he went to sleep and then someone took him to his home and that person was his brother that was very smart. So he went to his lab and started to build something so got to work. I m done said the brother. So he worked it he put his brother in the machine. He turned it on. And it worked he woke up and said thank you and hugged him. The bad guy saw he was gone and he said NOOOOOOOOOOO! THE END.
