2 Ministering Deliverance Purpose of Equipping Ephesians 4v11-13 To see everyone equipped to carry out works of ministry, trained to pray for people both inside the church and outside Jeremiah 6v14 Jeremiah 8v11 People who try to dress wounds, not knowing how severe the wounding is Know the power of God, released in you and through the anointing of God, to set people free Recognise the seriousness of the condition of the human heart go straight to the root the core of the demonic influence Deliverance can be a one-off, one-step cleaning, cleansing and setting free process; instantaneous results as in the life and ministry of Jesus. In some cases where 'mopping-up' needs to happen, we can minister inner healing, Father's love and Restoring Foundations Not a technique; learn how to be dependent upon the Holy Spirit We are sons of God and can be led by the Spirit of God It's Jesus Christ who sets people free ultimately, but He gives us a part in this ministry Take care not to take the glory to yourself, it ends in pride Power of suggestion e.g. 'I see you have been abused' very dubious Word of knowledge immediately witnesses with a person Spirit of discernment essential In New Testament 3 words describe the source, activity and influence of evil spirits 1. Devil (diabolos) Appears 61 times in NT; slanderer, false accuser, father of lies, entices to sin 2. Satan Your enemy, your adversary, against everything you do, to prevent you fulfilling the will of God in your life 3. Demons (unclean spirits) Our spirit as a Christian cannot be possessed by demons, because we have been born again and greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. John 8v36 Possession is about ownership and our lives have been bought with the precious blood of Jesus

No response to personal encouragement or spiritual growth 2. Unable to stand in personal identity 3. Flesh can be crucified, demons must be driven out 4. Particular compulsive behaviours

5 How do demons begin to invade a person's life and dominate them? 1. Involvement with the occult, Witchcraft Ouija board séance levitation Superstitions pagan objects spiritism telepathy spirit healers legalism clairvoyancy astral projection tarot cards ritual rites hypnotism horoscopes freemasonry fortune telling graphology crystal balls false religion magic yoga drugs martial arts ESP palmistry cults acupuncture corn dollies foreign gods gaining knowledge other than by the spirit of God 2. Familiar spirits Family ties; Deuteronomy 5v9; past generations having Involvement, rejection, one of the major holds 3. Traumas, accidents, invasive surgery, unconsciousness 4. Unforgiveness 2 Corinthians 2v10 5. Curses, death wishes, rejection 6. Any ungodly influences 7. Unrestrained behaviour, abuses, compulsions, obsessions, lust, adultery, fornication 7 Steps to minister deliverance When casting out demons, if nothing is happening in 5 minutes, bind it, and move on. Come back again fresh, tell the person to fast and pray and come back. Demons love attention 1 Identify demonic activity Demonic manifestation; mental blocks (can't remember, don't know) Ask God for discerning of spirits and word of knowledge Violent reactions, kicking, biting, flaying around: make it physically safe for everyone Blasphemies, incoherent speech, demonic tongues Hyper-ventilation Aggressive stare, glassy-eyed, even in very passive people Noises, growls, screams, intimidation Rigidness of body, vomiting, blood-curdling screams All these can be bound in Jesus name 2 Exercise authority over the evil spirit Jesus gave us authority Luke 9v1;13v10-17; 8v26-35; Matthew 28v18; 18v18; 12v29; Mark 16v17 Loudness not essential, but we are in a battle! Know who is leading prayer and using authority. Pray in two's but one take lead and other back up in tongues
