1 Patriot Times Red, White, & News! VOLUME 8, ISSUE 10 NOVEMBER 2, 2017 Halloween Spirit Fills the School! Mrs. Turner has decorated her tree with spooky décor, sending shivers through the students that pass through the halls. The library is booming with Halloween spirit. The hallway is decorated as a Halloween night with pumpkins and bats. There are many frightful books available on the wooden spooktacular desk. Poetry is the rhythm to fall. So fall in love with poetry. Outside Mrs. Bolyard s room, the coffins are screaming with Halloween fright. Halloween is in full swing and many people are getting into the mood! Around the school, decorations have been put up, and bring spooky and fun Halloween spirit to RLBMS. Mr. Merrifield has hung up skulls to celebrate the Day of the Dead, the Mexican version of Halloween. Collage made by Alexis Burkhammer and Morgan Thayer
2 P ATRIOT TIMES P AGE 2 Around the School New Question: Name one winner of the annual R.L.B.M.S Pumpkin Drop. Congratulations to Katrina Tallhamer for answering last week s question. The Halloween tree is by Mrs. Turner s room. If you know the answer, then write it and your name on a piece of paper and put it in the Around the School box at the library circulation desk. One correct answer will be chosen. We may print that student s picture in the next issue, and the student will win a prize. Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard by Rick Riordan Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard is a story about a homeless man that finds out that his father is a Norse god. He is brought to Asgard to learn to fight and defend against monsters. This is a great book. I recommend it highly. By Gabe Bonnett

Once the cones are filled, snugly wrap each one in aluminum foil. You can heat them in various ways, using the campfire, the grill, or the oven. It takes about seven minutes to melt them into a delightfully gooey combination. Serve and enjoy!

The original jack-o'-lanterns were made with turnips and potatoes by the Irish. About 95% of pumpkins grown in the U.S today are grown in Illinois. Pumpkins are technically fruit. Pumpkins were first grown in Central America. They have grown in America for more than 5000 years.
