U:\PLANNING\Des Plaines River Watershed Workgroup\Meetings\Monitoring Committee\ Monitoring\ Meeting.Minutes.Beth'sComments.docx
3 To support an educational approach, Rosemary H. presented a packet of EPA documents, an from the Waukegan Park District, and a Greenest Region Compact handout (all documents will be posted on our website she also mentioned that the a county-wide ban would only not apply to certain townships. Data analysis, results, website updates, and press releases are other outreach options. May K. was asked to prepare a 2-page handout about coal tar sealants to distribute at the upcoming 11/7/18 Green Infrastructure Training. 6. Fecal Coliform Sampling Current water levels need to decrease before work can be done because low flow conditions are ideal for safety and sampling. Levels of fecal coliform in certain areas have shown to be consistently high. A map of NPDES small wastewater plant permits (IL00) will be created by LCSMC s GIS folks in order to try to find sources for the high levels of fecal coliforms. Joe R. asked all committee members to take time to evaluate all our data and come with recommendations to next month s meeting on how we might be able to reduce the amount of data we are collecting so we can put some money toward other DRWW priorities, like the NARP. 7. Progress Report on 2018 Sampling by MBI Joe R. gave updates on MBI s 2018 sampling. MBI is completing their 2018 sampling this week with their second fish run. Macroinvertebrate collection is complete. Sediments will also be collected this fall. 8. Old Business None. 9. Other Business Joe R. asked the Committee to consider how we want to continue to monitor after the 2019 Mill Creek/Libertyville Tributaries are sampled. Do we want to consider taking 2 years off from monitoring (non-permit required sampling only) and then 3 years on? Should we cut back on how often sediments are sampled? Chris Yoder of MBI has requested we add BOD, but this is expensive, should we add BOD sampling? Beth A. was asked to contact Chris Yoder to find out why he feels BOD data is important. 10. Next Monitoring/WQI Committee Meeting October 19, 2018 at 1:00 pm at the Lake County Central Permit Facility 11. Adjourn Motion to adjourn. First Motion: Mike A. Second Motion: Leslie B. Motion passed unanimously and meeting adjourned at 1:50 pm. U:\PLANNING\Des Plaines River Watershed Workgroup\Meetings\Monitoring Committee\ Monitoring\ Meeting.Minutes.Beth'sComments.docx
