5 Marine Geosciences: first year mandatory modules Master conference (3 CP): The aim of the module is to organize a student geosciences conference over two days. Marine field and lab practice (12 CP): A broad and open spectrum of field - and offshore marine courses is offered. Advanced training on how to analyse and interpret marine environmental archives and paleoceanographic and paleoclimatic records.

6 Marine Geosciences: compulsory elective modules in the first year Core subjects: Take three out of six core subjects offered. Each with a winter- (9 CP) and a summer term module (6 CP). Geoscientific Project (15 CP) Initiation and management of a self-designed geoscientific project Master Thesis (30 CP) Geoscientific Research Seminar (15 CP) Development of a research concept for own master thesis (state of the art, scientific goals, methods and schedule) Geoscientific research project with thesis and colloquium

13 The 2nd year geoscientific project can either be a marine survey, a geomedia project, an internship or an external/ international research project in marine geosciences. The research seminar is about the development and presentation of research projects and prepares the students for their master thesis. The fourth semester is dedicated to thesis work. A colloquium completes the course.
