1 Heritage Rock Precincts of Hyderabad Published by: Society to The city of Hyderabad is home to unique natural rock formations found in the Deccan plateau. Geologists say these granites are 2500 million years old i.e. 60 times older than the Himalayas. Much of this natural wealth has been destroyed for the development of the city. Efforts are on to protect and integrate these stunning rock formations into the development process through creative architecture and conservation mechanisms. The Society to is working towards protection and conservation of rock formations in the Deccan Plateau. It has been instrumental in getting 23 rock precincts in and around Hyderabad notified under the Heritage Regulations of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority, Government of Andhra Pradesh, in the years 1998 and In this calendar, the Society presents to you images of all these protected sites, taken by wellwishers of the Society.
