4 Geography Geography: Key Skills and Concepts EYFS KS1 & KS2 1. Geography NOT taught as discrete subject. 2. Taught within Specific Area of Understanding of the World: The World 1. The Geography curriculum and its teaching should inspire a life-long curiosity in pupils. 2. Teaching will equip children with knowledge of : diverse places, people and resources natural and human environments earth s key physical and human processes 3. Russia) and N and S America. Focus is environmental regions, key physical and human characteristics, countries and major cities. LK Name and locate countries and cities of the UK, geographical regions and their identifying characteristics, key topographical features (hills, mountains, coasts and rivers) and land-use patterns and how some of these aspects have changed over time. Agreed time for KS2 is 45 hours per year, which equates to 15 hours for each topic. Units to be blocked and a clear set of outcomes linked to key historical skills and concepts.
