(art. 1 Spatial Planning Act, 2001) Spatial planning the process of territorial coordination of sectorial policies at national, regional and local levels through a hierarchical system of connected documents, which, according to the local potential and resources, determines the strategy for integrated spatial development. 5 National level documents aims NSRD Sustainable and balanced regional development based on the local potential and resources and economic, social and territorial cohesion of the regions NCSD Spatial coordination of the processes, taking place at the national territory through creation of spatial planning base and regulations for implementing not only the regional, but also the single socioeconomic sectorial planning at national level in the context of the European spatial development for achieving a complex integrated planning. 33 The Challenge of IPURD of the city of Sofia Commissioned by Sofia municipality as part of the OP Regional Development Unique document for the country; Developed for the biggest city and the capital of Bulgaria; Integrates the best ideas from the adopted strategic documents and unlocks the potential of the capital city; Has its own institutional framework; Unique public participation opportunities, for PPPs, for coordination and control. The Integrated Plan for Urban regeneration and Development of the city of Sofia is cofinanced by the OP Regional Development through the ERDF, the state budget of the Republic of Bulgaria and Sofia municipality budget.
