We all know that the minute you walk out of your front door, you re looking at geography. We re all living in a geographical world Nicholas Crane (President RGS-IBG)

7 Dynamic Places Topic 3: Globalisation a study of globalisation, its causes & consequences for different people & places.

8 Dynamic Places Topic 4: Shaping places a study of how & why places are shaped & changed, the meanings & identities attached to different places & the consequences for different people. Regenerating Places.

9 3 DAYS FIELDWORK November Year 12 : Trip to Bristol to look at areas of multiple deprivation and rebranding strategies March visit to the Dorset coast to look at coastal features and management Summer Term of year 12 a further day fieldwork to practice a range of data collection strategies linked to carbon cycling

10 Physical Systems & Sustainability Topic 5: Water Cycle & Water Insecurity water cycle, human & natural factors that impact on water cycling, consequences for water security & future water conflicts.

11 Topic 6: The Carbon Cycle & Energy Security Carbon Cycle, human & natural factors impacting on the carbon cycling, the consequences for ecosystems & management strategies.

12 Human systems & Geopolitics Topic 8: Superpowers Superpowers, the reasons for shifting economic and political power, the impacts of superpowers, influences of superpowers in governing global commons.

13 Topic 9: Global Development & Connections Health, human rights & intervention. How do human rights vary from place to place? What political and military interventions take place and how successful are they?

14 INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATION Students complete independent fieldwork followed by a 3-4,000 word write-up. You decide on an area of the course that interests you You decide on the title you wish to investigate You then complete a data collection programme You write up your findings

16 COURSE REQUIREMENTS If you have studied Geography at GCSE a Grade 5 is preferred Students who have not taken GCSE Geography are welcome.

17 EXTRA CURRICULAR The bi- annual A Level/GCSE trip abroad is scheduled to take place in October of The location is likely to be Sicily.
