1 CGC 1D of Canada Summative Evaluation We have made it to the summative part of the course. Your summative evaluation is a study of a specific CITY or REGION in Canada. Cities will be chosen by students. No two students will be studying the same city. TASK: You are required to prepare a Poster or Powerpoint Presentation that contains interesting information about the information outlined below. -Be creative! Don t be afraid to discuss different ways of setting up your project with your teacher!!! -Go through the exam outline and incorporate as many terms and concepts from the course as you can into your summative project. Show that you can use this stuff CONTENT: For your city, you must include the following elements: Your title page must be a map of Canada with your city indicated on the map. You must include all map requirements on any maps you produce. Throughout the project you must incorporate at least 2 maps, 3 visuals (pictures), 2 graphs or charts, and give the sources for the information you have used. The written sections of the assignment must be in your own words and you must give the sources for the information you have used. This means using parenthetical notation in the body of the text. All sources used must be listed on a Work Cited page attached at the end of the project or on the back of the poster. Note: You have choices. Check off the choices as you complete them. If you use your time well, you can get a great mark. However, this project is TOO BIG to try to do last minute!!!!!! -complete one section at a time and pace yourself to make sure your finish all of the required sections Final Due Date: Date: Jun 18 th *This project is like an exam! The due date is not flexible, unless you have a medical certificate filed with the office or other acceptable documentation. Official documentation is required. Do s and Don t s: Do: Use your time well Use the class textbook as a source of information. You do not have to use the internet much for this summative. In fact using the internet will SLOW YOU DOWN!!! Set aside some time each night to finish off something you didn t get done in class Solve problems right away. Remember, your teacher can help you. Work on the sections one topic at a time. SAVE your work ON YOUR SCHOOL ACCOUNT each day. Back up your work on a data stick, or google account. You are responsible for any lost work, corrupt files, etc. Make back-up copies! Don t: Underestimate how important this is. It is worth 10% of your FINAL grade! Plagiarize. You MUST note where all your information was found. Also, put the information into your own words. 4
