2 Introduction In-house Data Architecture work identified GEOSPATIAL DATA as its own logical data warehouse In order to understand what that means a project was set up (Feb. to June 2018) The Geospatial Reference Architecture project started having as a baseline To use the Enterprise Architecture method and create a Geospatial Reference Architecture Based on the idea of a shared geospatial data warehouse Based on the idea of the utilisation of shared services and tools

3 Architecture method Public Administration Recommendation (JHS) 179 v.2.0 Based on TOGAF v.9.1 Models both the current state and the target state from four different perspectives We used a tool supporting JHS 179 (QPR Enterprise Architect) As an NSI we added a fifth perspective, GSBPM (Generic Statistical Business Process Model) We modelled The current state The target state (especially services needed) We analysed gaps between the current and target states We defined the focus for the development needed Finally, we made a road map for the necessary actions

5 Strategy Map: VISION 2023 Statistics Finland has a centralised operating model for producing and utilising geospatial statistical data. Geospatial data is produced only once. Geospatial data is used uniformly by the organisation and also on the national level (regarding data disclosure). Geospatial data and geospatially enabled statistical data is used via shared web services. Statistics Finland s role in the national and international operating environment is defined and agreed with other actors

10 Architecture Governance Model Our governance model is JHKA 1.91 (Governance Model for Enterprise Architecture in the Public Sector) Governance Model is a structure that keeps reference architecture up-to-date a tool for implementing strategy The most important things in Architecture Governance Identify all processes that may have impact on reference architecture: changes in customer needs, standards, legislation, technology, organisation or, for example, changes in surrounding society (digitalization) Offering the up-to-date reference architecture for all potential users and also offering the visible process to update the reference model, if necessary (projects, strategy work, etc.)
