WINDS ANTENNAE Installed at the Government of Fiji ITC complex Maintained by ITC staff Standard procedure for requesting and accessing imagery via Sentinel Asia established 1. request JAXA by for proposal to use the WINDS antenna for receiving commercial data when disaster occur 2. request the emergency observation request to Sentinel Asia 3. JAXA also receives emergency observation requests sent to the International Disaster Charter via UNOOSA/UNOSAT 4. ITC Fiji is contacted by JAXA once image is uploaded 5. ITC Fiji contacts NDMO and SOPAC once data is prepared 6. Imagery downloaded by SOPAC and NDMO and distributes as required Pre and post disaster image products were provided in February 2012

PACIFIC RISK INFORMATION SYSTEM
Pacific Disaster Net PDN Largest and most comprehensive information resource for Disaster Risk Management for the Pacific Island Countries Alerts, Events, Reports, Publications, Contacts, Training Information, Media 10,000 documents since
GEONETWORK A storage and retrieval online catalogue, developed for easy and secure access to Marine and oceanographic Information collected from SPC SOPAC divisions ocean surveys and from external organizations within the Pacific Bathymetry Datasets, Reports & Charts Historical Aerial Photographs Deep Sea minerals Datasets South Pacific Sea Level and Climate Monitoring Project Information Pacific Maritime Boundary Information Deep sea Mineral resources Geophysical data, Atlases and reports Coastal Geological Maps Satellite Images SOPAC historical scanned maps and Charts
GEONETWORK
CHALLENGES Sustainability Data sharing between agencies, with countries and partners. SOPAC is only the custodian of the data Limited internet connectivity or high maintenance costs Capacity development within countries to sustain and apply products ( not another data collection exercise ) Inhouse capacity to maintain PacRIS Funding dependent on project funding to deliver activities. Sustainability between project lifecycle Limited resources personnel within NDMO thus support from Lands/Mapping section is critical Bridge the gap from Science to Policy products need to assist development planners and DRM/CCA policy makers Development of tools and products to meet country needs Liaise & collaborate with SOPAC SPC for available data and training needs/gaps for the member countries
