AASHE defines sustainability courses as those in which the primary and explicit focus is on sustainability and/or on understanding or solving one or more major sustainability challenge. AASHE define courses that include sustainability (sustainability-related courses) as those with a primary focus on a topic other than sustainability, but incorporate a unit, module or activities on sustainability or a sustainability challenge. Extended definitions can be found at the following link: Graduate level courses were removed from the certificate list as the certificate program is designated for undergraduate students. 7

8 s in programs such as Education, Nursing, Undergraduate Medical Education, Social Work, and Law where the program is very prescriptive and access to students outside of the program is extremely limited were removed (except SOWK 557) from the certificate inventory, as students in these programs are unable to take the certificate program and the courses in the department would not benefit external students. 8
