41 4) Mass Concrete, DEF (2/3) Trojan Horse of Sulfate Delayed Ettringite Formation When the atmosphere around them cools, the sulphate ions lose interest slowly migrate back to ettringite - this can take a month or two to complete. The ettringite is a larger volume crystal as it attracts water and acts as an internal wedge splitting the concrete apart with some cracks noted in literature exceeding 1 wide. 10/25/
