1 Electronic Supplementry Mteril (ESI) for RSC Advnces. This journl is The Royl Society of Chemistry 2014 Supplementry dt: The distribution co-efficient (K d ) t different ph hs been computed (eq. 2) nd the effect of ph on log K d of Ti(IV) between the dsorbent nd solution is depicted in (Fig 7). ml K d g 1 = C s g g 1 / C sol g ml 1 (eq. s1) Here, C s nd C sol re respective concentrtions of Ti(IV) in the solid phse nd in solution phse. seprtion procedure (f. 1): When, Ti(IV)-Fe(III) nd Ti(IV)-Zr(IV) binry mixtures were pssed through the column t ph 2.5, only Ti(IV) from the mixtures ws percolted through the column with the mobile phse. The extrcted Fe(III) nd Zr(IV) were eluted with 0.1 M HCl nd 4 M HNO 3 respectively. Binry mixtures contining Ti(IV) with Co(II), Ni(II), Zn(II) nd Cd(II) when equilibrted with the SSG-V10 t ph 5.75 except Ti(IV) ll the diverse ions were pssed through column with the mobile phse. Ti(IV) in ech cse ws stripped with 1 M HCl + H 2 O 2. Binry mixtures contining Ti(IV)-Al(III) nd Ti(IV)-Pb(II), when pssed through the column t ph 5.75, from their respective mixtures both Al(III) nd Pb(II) were extrcted long with Ti(IV). Al(III) nd Pb(II) respectively were eluted with 1M CH 3 COOH, nd M CH 3 COOH. Ti(IV) in ech cse ws stripped with 1 M HCl + H 2 O 2. In order to justify its possible nlyticl ppliction, the proposed method ws pplied to seprte Ti(IV) from vrious multi-component synthetic mixtures. The multicomponent synthetic mixtures contining Fe(III) / Zr(IV), Cr(III) / Co(II) / Ni(II) / Zn(II) / Cd(II) nd Ti(IV) when pssed through the column t ph 2.5, only Fe(III) / Zr(IV) ws extrcted. The extrcted Fe(III) nd Zr(IV) were eluted with 0.1 M HCl nd 4 M HNO 3 respectively. The effluent contining Cr(III) / Co(II) / Ni(II) / Zn(II) / Cd(II) nd Ti(IV) ws then equilibrted with the SSG-V10 t the column t ph Under this recommended
2 condition, from their respective solution only Ti(IV) ws extrcted nd subsequently it ws eluted with 1 M HCl + H 2 O 2 (tble: 6). Synthetic mixture contining Fe(III) / Zr(IV), U(VI) / V(IV) / Th(IV) / Ce(IV) nd Ti(IV) when pssed through the column t ph 2.5, except Fe(III) / Zr(IV), both the diverse ions (U(VI) / V(IV) / Th(IV) / Ce(IV) nd Ti(IV)) were pssed through with the mobile phse. The effluent contining U(VI) / V(IV) / Th(IV) / Ce(IV) nd Ti(IV) ws subsequently pssed through the ion-exchnge bed t ph 5.75, when both U(VI) / V(IV) / Th(IV) / Ce(IV) nd Ti(IV) were extrcted t the column. The seprtions were chieved by using suitble eluting gent. Supplementry Figure: logk d ph Fig. S1: Plot of ph vs. log K d t fixed concentrtion of Ti(IV) & extrctnt
