1 Instructions (Please read carefully) EMISTRY 201 PLAEMENT EXAM For each question, choose the one best answer. You may use the periodic table and a calculator. Allow yourself one hour to complete the placement self-test. Answers are posted on the last page of the test. If you can answer most of the questions in each section correctly, hem201 is the right entry point for you, otherwise, you should consider taking hem101 or hem160 as your first chemistry course at Mount olyoke. Most students take hem201 in the spring. hem201 in the fall has an additional calculus prerequisite. It has a limited enrollment and is designed for first-year students who plan to major in chemistry or biochemistry. If you are interested in enrolling in hem201 in the fall, scores for each section, as well as the total score, should be submitted to the professor of the section in which you wish to enroll. After permission is granted, it is your responsibility to register for the course in ISIS.
