1 Clayton State University Dual Degree Engineering Program with Georgia Institute of Technology Chemistry/Chemical Engineering Through an agreement between Clayton State University and Georgia Institute of Technology, students who wish to study engineering may begin their undergraduate program at Clayton State University and later transfer to Georgia Institute of Technology through the Dual Degree Engineering Program. By enrolling in the Dual Degree Program, a student may attend college close to home, which can decrease cost, in a college environment where classes are smaller. This can provide more individual attention and interaction with professors as the student is making the adjustment to college life. Students who attend Clayton State University under the Dual Degree Engineering Program will complete a specified three-year chemistry curriculum at Clayton State and then attend Georgia Tech for approximately two years to complete the remaining Engineering Curriculum. After completion of the program of study at Georgia Tech, the student will receive a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Clayton State University and a Bachelor s degree in Chemical Engineering from Georgia Tech. In order to be considered for admission to the College of Engineering at Georgia Tech as a dual degree transfer student, students must complete the prescribed program of study at the participating institution, students must meet the admissions requirements for the chemical engineering major and meet the Georgia Tech GPA requirements. For Georgia residents, a cumulative overall GPA of 3.3 is required, including a mathematics GPA of 3.3 and a science GPA of 3.3. The Dual Degree Program requirements at Clayton State include: General Education Requirements: Areas A-E No changes to the CSU Core* (Chemistry program) Major Requirements: Area F taken at CSU Upper Division Required Chemistry Core taken at CSU: Directed Electives taken at CSU: Upper Division courses taken at either CSU or Ga Tech Required Engineering courses from CHBE program Total Degree Hours: 42 semester hours 18 semester hours 13 semester hours 17 semester hours 20 semester hours 10 transfer hours 120 hours *A student in the Dual Degree Chemistry/Chemical Engineering program at Clayton State must select Calculus I as the Area A2 Mathematics course. The B.S. in Chemistry degree will consist of CSU Core and then a pre-determined schedule of CSU CHEM along with CHBE, MSE and CHEM courses from Ga Tech, all of which are a part of the program of study for the engineering degree program at Georgia Tech. The following pages list the CSU Chemistry Curriculum and the Chemical Engineering and the Chemistry courses from Georgia Tech that will satisfy the required Chemistry courses at CSU. Following the advising sheets are the course descriptions for all of the Chemical Engineering courses that will be transferred into CSU for the Chemistry degree.

CHBE Separations Processes Fundamentals of equilibrium-stage and continuous contacting operations. Applications of principles to distillation, absorption/stripping, extraction, absorption, and other separation technologies. CHBE Chemical Process Safety Fundamental sources of chemical hazards and degree of risk.
