1 Liquid Polybutadienes and Derivatives Coatings & Colorants Product Range Our polyoils and derivatives are stereospecific, lowviscosity and unsaponifiable liquid polybutadienes having a high 1.4-cis double bond content. They are highly reactive binders with a high resistance to water and chemicals and have good electrical insulation properties e / In this form, they are used in sealing and adhesive compounds, anticorrosion primers, rubber applications, potting compounds and impregnations. Overview of grades / Supply form Polyoil 110 Polyoil 130 POLYVEST OC 800 S POLYVEST EP*-DS 30 A Packaging Polyoil 110 und Polyoil 130: opaque liquid without auxiliary solvent, amine-neutralized solids: about 35 % steel drums, enameled, contents: 190 kg, or tankers. POLYVEST OC 800 S und POLYVEST EP*-DS 30 A: Storage With exclusion of air, light and moisture at storage temperatures below 25, the product is stable for at least 1 year. POLYVEST EP*-DS 30 A: Stable for up 6 month, protect from freezing! Safety and Handling Polyoil and derivatives react with atmospheric oxygen to form peroxides and undergo crosslinking in its presence. They are therefore packed and delivered under a blanket of inert gas (nitrogen). When handling this products, care must be taken to exclude atmospheric oxygen as far as possible. 3 Properties and Applications Polyoil 110 Polyoil 110 is a stereospecific, low-viscosity, unsaponifiable liquid polybutadiene which is soluble in aliphatics, aromatics and ethers and has the following composition: ca. 75 % 1.4-cis double bonds ca. 24 % 1.4-trans double bonds ca. 1 % vinyl double bonds General use Polyoil 110 is a nonpolar, hydrophobic hydrocarbon having a high resistance to water and chemicals and good electrical insulation properties. Owing to its high proportion of 1.4-cis double bonds, Polyoil 110 is a highly reactive, oxidatively crosslinkable binder. In this form, it is used in: sealing and adhesives compounds anticorrosion paints impregnation of cylinder head gaskets impregnation of mineral substrates resin modifications rubber mixtures Polyoil 110 is used in the following applications after reaction with maleic anhydride: for producing water-soluble, oxidatively drying binders as crosslinker component in 2-component systems Polyoil 130 Polyoil 130 is a further liquid, stereospecific and unsaponifiable polybutadiene having a relatively high molecular weight and the following double bond distribution: ca. 77 % 1.4-cis double bonds ca. 22 % 1.4-trans double bonds ca. 1 % vinyl double bonds Polyoil 130 is used: as plasticizer in rubber applications as mold release agent for PUR foams for the modification of resins to improve the air drying properties of vegetable oils as sole binder for single-layer surface coatings for interior use (e.g. machine paints) as binder for recycled rubber POLYVEST OC 800 S POLYVEST OC 800 S is a maleic anhydride adduct of a low molecular weight 1.4-cis-polybutadiene. This polybutadiene adduct contains succinic anhydride groups randomly distributed along the polymer chain.the originally apolar butadiene is thus made more polar and accessible to various chemical reactions. POLYVEST OC 800 S is soluble in aliphatics, aromatics and ethers and compatible with long-oil alkyd resins, rosin, resin esters and zinc resinates. POLYVEST OC 800 S has good electrical insulation properties and low-temperature stability. With these excellent properties, POLYVEST OC 800 S is employed as: 1. Crosslinker component in 2-component systems e.g. in: cable jointing compounds sealing and adhesives compounds 2. Polymeric chalk activator in rubber compounds, especially EPDM compounds 3. Water-soluble, oxidatively drying binder POLYVEST EP*-DS 30 A POLYVEST EP*-DS 30 A is a modified, aqueous, air drying, finely divided binder based on an unsapofiable, low molecular weight 1.4-cispolybutadiene. The nonpolar structure of the polybutadiene provides optimal protection against corrosion. Owing to its very low glass transition temperature, film formation is still possible at low temperatures. POLYVEST EP*-DS 30 A has: good storage stability rapid touch-drying behavior good adhesion to steel and nonferrous metals good mechanical properties of the cured paint films excellent anticorrosion properties good water resistance Owing to its properties, POLYVEST EP*-DS 30 A is suitable for producing aqueous, air-drying anticorrosion primers and for impregnating mineral substrates (plasters and renders, asbestos) Guideline formulations are avaible.
