Data Sheet SP-700 Free Chlorine Analysis TMB Method The Pyxis SP-700 free chlorine method is based on the USEPA-accepted tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) chemistry for free chlorine analysis. The solidified reagent deposited inside a capped 2-ml disposable pipette contains TMB, a ph buffer, and a polymeric binder. When a water sample is withdrawn to the pipette, the TMB reagent dissolves and reacts with free chlorine in the sample to form a yellow solution. The SP-700 measures the absorbance value of the resulted yellow solution to determine the free chlorine concentration in the sample. Effective 11/1/2017 all SP-700 units will come preprogrammed with the TMB Free Chlorine method. For units purchased prior to this date, Pyxis offers an online firmware upgrade free of charge to enable your SP- 700 to run this test. The procedure for upgrading your SP-700 unit is included in page 6 of this document. Applications Cooling Tower Water samples Domestic Water Samples Features Capped disposal pipette can be handled more easily than a powder pillow Gelled solid reagent avoiding inhaling chemical dust Acidic reaction ph eliminating calcium carbonate/phosphate precipitation common in the DPD method Ordering Information SP-700 P/N: TMB Free Chlorine Reagent (x 100 tests) P/N: 31053

Long press Calib (labeled with OK) to return to chlorine page. Note: Free Chlorine Calibration Standard Solution concentration should be within 1.1 to 2.2 ppm for proper calibration.

FIRMWARE UPDATE for SP-700 to ADD TMB Free Chlorine Test This document describes procedures to upgrade SP-700 firmware via upyxis software over Bluetooth interface. Each SP-700 comes from Pyxis with a Bluetooth adapter for use in your PC/Laptop. This device enables wireless communication from your PC/Laptop to the SP-700 for data transfer and is essential in installing firmware upgrades. If you have lost your Bluetooth adapter, contact Pyxis to receive a replacement at order@pyxis-lab.com Terminology Terminology upyxis Software Description PC software to upgrade and configure SP-700 BTLE Bluetooth Low Energy Revision Component Revision upyxis Software SP-700 Firmware 1.4.0r230 Download Links upyxis Software: SP-700 Firmware: Note: Click the Download link in the Firmware Download page and save SP700_v1.4.0r230.bin file to your computer.

SP-700 Firmware Upgrading Procedure Click the OK button while holding the LEFT button (labeled with <) to turn the SP-700 on. The SP-700 bootloader starts running and the following screen displays Click the MIDDLE button (labeled with >) to start SP-700 Bluetooth interface, and the following screen displays

Plug in Bluetooth USB adapter to your computer, and launch upyxis software, according to Fig 8. upyxis software will automatically scan and find the SP-700 device. 8 Click the Connect button to connect with the SP-700, Fig 9 displays when the upyxis software has connected to the SP-700 successfully.

Click the Load File button to locate the SP700_v1.4.0r230.bin firmware file saved in the local computer, and then click the Update button to start upgrading the SP-700 meter. It takes about 3 minutes to complete the procedure. Fig 10 displays the upgrading process Once the upgrading procedure is completed, the SP-700 meter will reboot automatically. Your SP-700 is now capable of being used to conduct Free Chlorine TMB method using the procedures found earlier in this document.
