There were plenty of new varieties and some exciting color additions to a few of our favorite series this year. We ve also included some colorful combos and eye-catching display ideas. It is an annual event where the world s prominent breeders, growers, educators, brokers, marketing professionals and other plant enthusiasts review new annual, perennial, ornamental grass and vegetable introductions. Typically held in March or April, the event takes place throughout California at several breeder/grower locations. From Spring Trials, new varieties are tested and trialed throughout the world in trial and display gardens to determine performance characteristics and market suitability. - springtrials.org California Spring Trials April 9-14, 2016

8 Superbells Superbells - Coralina A great new addition to the Superbells line. More of a cascading habit for exceptional hanging baskets. Excellent branching and great coral color. Superbells - Tropical Sunrise Superbells - Hollywood Star Superbells - Morning Star Two new colors to the star collection; Hollywood Star and Morning Star. Earliest to flower around week 7. Heucherella Fun and Games Unique lobed, red, and large leaves. Fades from bright red coloration in spring to a deep green blend in the summer. Good in part shade to shade! Zone 4-9 This is the replacement for Superbells Tequila Sunrise. Larger blooms with orange, pink, and coral color tones. Heuchera Dolce Heuchera Dolce - Appletini 2017 Combos Above and Beyond Cherry red flowers with lime green foliage with a silver overlay. May get flower rebloom. Hardy to zone 4. 12 Sedum Sunsparkler - Lime Twister Great new low-growing sedum that has a unique, bright color pattern. Sunstanding Orange Aurora This is one of several new Sunstanding impatiens, which compete with SunPatiens. The Aurora means the flower is two-toned with a darker edge. A new addition to the Hula series, a nice blue with a dark ring in the center. Great for baskets. Calibrachoa Hula Blue Calibrachoa Chameleon The Blueberry Scone has a wonderful soft blue and yellow pattern. 13 Petchoa Suntunia Suntunia is a new series that is a petunia x calibrachoa cross. This series should be very uniform because all colors come from the same parents. Very hardy for summer, stands up to hot summer temps and easy to grow. Petchoa Suntunia - Neon Rose Petchoa Suntunia - Electric Apricot Petunia Surprise - Purple Touch Very hardy for summer, easy to grow. Potunia - Cobalt Blue This petunia has an amazing true blue color! Mounded habit like other Potunia. Calibrachoa Calibrachoa MiniFamous - Neo White-Yellow Eye The Neo sub-series is very uniform with medium vigor. This white with yellow eye will be great for mixes! Verbena BeBop - Lavender This is a new verbena series from Selecta with bi-color flowers. Medium vigor. Pink Kisses - Pot Carnation This carnation is a top seller in Europe, and offers 10 weeks of bloom in the house. Outdoors it will bloom all summer!
