2 Department of Zoology U n i v e r s i t y o f K a s h m i r, S r i n a g a r The revised curriculum to be adopted for B. Sc. 1 st year from the academic session 2013 and subsequently for B. Sc. 2 nd year in 2014 and B. Sc. 3 rd Year in Course Structure: The course will comprise of 3 papers, one paper in each year to be named as Zoology. Each paper will be of 100 marks (25 marks for Internal Assessment and 75 marks for External Examination). For each year there will be one practical course (Zoo-1L in B. Sc. 1 st year; Zoo-2L in B. Sc. 2 nd year and Zoo-3L in B. Sc. 3 rd year) carrying 50 marks (25 marks for Internal Assessment and 25 marks for External Examination). Students will have to submit their practical note books containing all the practicals carried during a particular year at the time of practical examination. Zoological Tours: The students shall be taken at least once a year on a zoological trip to different places to familiarize the students with the places of Zoological interest and to provide them an opportunity to observe various faunastic diversity in nature. These places could be Zoological Parks, Wildlife Sancturies, Hatcheries, Abattoirs etc. 2

Saharia Scheme/Instructions for teachers/paper setters There will be two types of questions in the question paper i.e; medium and long answer type questions comprising of Section A and Section B. In section A there will be five medium type questions, one question with internal choice from each unit. All the five questions will be compulsory. There will be five long answer type questions in Section B, one from each unit and the students will be required to attempt any three questions. Duration of the final examination will be 3 hrs. Theory paper carrying 100 marks Section A 5 medium answer type questions each carrying 7 marks (5x7) = 35 Section B 3 long answer type questions each carrying 13 marks (3x13) = 39 (approx. 40 marks) Internal examination = 25 marks External examination = 75 marks Total (25+75) = 100 marks 5
