3 Nature of Biology Biology is a science which attempts to understand the living world at all levels using many different approaches and techniques. By its very nature, biology depends in majority to experimental approach, including laboratory practices and field observation. Group 4 students at standard level (SL) and higher level (HL) undertake a common syllabus, internal assessment scheme, and some overlapping elements in the study options. The main difference between SL and HL is the depth of the topic taken.
4 DP BIOLOGY LINKS TO MYP AND DP To previous Middle Years Programme, the continued key concepts for DP Biology are Change, Relationships, and Systems To DP Theory of Knowledge (TOK), DP Biology provides a massive opportunity for students to reflect on various methodologies of science and how it can connect and effect different areas of knowledge.
