While the Sun reveals your intended purposes and lessons for this present life cycle, the MOON represents what you have already done and developed, hence, what is instinctive and natural to you, and what you tend to do over and over again. Your childhood is also reflected in the Moon's placement, as it is through those childhood circumstances that any unresolved past-life issues are restimulated. Your subconscious predisposition is indicated by the Moon's position. It is the psychic imprint of the past. 5 Moon in Gemini: You instinctively respond to stress by using your wit and your intellect. Humor, rationalization, and wielding the power of the written or spoken word are your forte. Oftentimes, however, your "good idea" or rational solution overlooks the emotional factors in a situation. And your jokes or refusal to take matters seriously, while defusing the stress somewhat, can easily become a denial and a defense against feeling the less pleasant aspects of life. At your most mischievous you use your verbal and intellectual cleverness to play with people's heads. You also like to play with words or ideas, and entertain various possibilities or options at the same time. 8 In this lifetime you are at a point in your soul development that requires you to do the work of refining and purifying your own nature. Like the ancient alchemists whose goal was to take bare materials and turn them into gold, your own process of self-transformation involves taking what is crude or disordered in yourself and refining it. It is a cycle of separating the wheat from the chaff, requiring acute discrimination, rigorous self-analysis and self-criticism. This impulse to perfect, to create order, and to focus on the flaws in order to improve and correct is the basis of much of your behavior. When you project it out into the world, it manifests as extreme fastidiousness, meticulous attention to detail, the ability to do very fine and exacting work, precision of thought and expression, and sometimes a peculiar fussiness. You can be the critic, the razor-sharp analyst, the master craftsman with a reputation for the greatest finesse and polish. You quietly observe, dissect, and measure everything against your own inner standard of perfection. Everything must be tested and go through the refiner's fire in order to prove its efficacy, Rarely do you swallow anything whole. Everything must be examined and judged, the acceptable parts ingested and the unacceptable rejected. This is true on many levels, including the physical. You are apt to be extremely discriminating about your diet, concerned with proper nutrition and the avoidance of pollutants and impurities in your food or environment, and so on. Your physical body itself may be very sensitive to what you take in - more so than other people are. On an intellectual level, you are similarly discriminating, perhaps to the point of frank skepticism. Because of your underlying need to create order, you like to categorize and put things in neat little boxes, and you may deny, avoid, invalidate, or refuse to take seriously something that does not fit in to your scheme. Even in investigating the spiritual or mystical, you seek a system, an order. Ambiguity, multiplicity, chaos or disarray of any kind may vex you considerably. You can also be very critical and demanding of other people, in a nagging, petty way. This is if you are projecting your need to refine and perfect onto the outside world. However, that is really a misuse of what is essentially an inner process, getting rid of the dross and refining your own character. Turned inward, this purification process is likely to manifest, first of all, as high personal standards of conduct and often much guilt and anxiety if you fail to do so. You will need to develop some humor and compassion for yourself, and a more merciful and tolerant attitude toward your own foibles and humanness to offset your innate propensity toward strict justice and judgment. Excessive self-doubt and self-criticism, an obsessive concern with self-improvement, extreme humility based on unrealistic perfectionism, fear of making mistakes or of being wrong, and an overly cautious Page 8/28

9 attitude toward life can be common pitfalls on your path. You can overcome these patterns by finding an avenue of service to others to put your energies into, or a particular craft that you can continue to develop and perfect. The soul or character development that results from self-giving and self-discipline is an important part of what you are here to do. Part of this ongoing inner process of purification can be achieved through devoted service to others, and through doing a good job for its own sake, rather than for the personal glory. Very often, you may be the invisible man or woman, in the supportive, assistant role, the power behind the throne, the worker bee rather than the queen. You may be quite comfortable being anonymous, for it is the quality of your work that really concerns you. You are happiest when you are being useful and productive, fulfilling a necessary function, being helpful in a tangible, concrete way. Sun Square Uranus: In many ways you "dance to the beat of a different drummer", and thus may feel out of step with the "norms" and societal expectations of the majority of mainstream culture. Even if you appear, or actually are, conservative in some respects, you are intended to question authority, break old rules, and introduce progressive change into the world. You are fulfilling your destiny when you are innovating. You need to be using your creative intelligence, inspiration, and opening up new channels of expression. You are "an original", unusual in some way, not one to follow the prescribed ways of living or being. Unless you surround yourself with others who share your unusual interests and inclinations, you may feel like a "weirdo" or an outsider. Certainly there are people who would consider you too "far-out", and you may enjoy provoking these people, shocking them, shaking up their limited world-view. You can be prone to a kind of extremism, embracing anything new, experimental or avant-garde simply because it is novel. You are likely to reject "normal", regardless of its intrinsic value. You tend to be impatient with convention, bureaucracy, the old school, and are unwilling to compromise yourself for the sake of fitting in. Freedom, selfexpression, and individualism are very dear to you, and there is a part of you which finds any sort of commitment or mutual dependency binding and irksome. There is a rather impersonal quality to you in that your allegiance is to yourself, living your own truth, and "going where the spirit moves you" first and fore-most. Though you are apt to go to extremes, it is still important for you to live out these impulses which others may find odd or incomprehensible; otherwise you are apt to become quite tense, unhappy, and out of step, not only with convention but even with yourself. 10 You do need to incorporate steadiness, rhythm, and regularity into your existence in some way, in order to utilize your creative genius and originality to its fullest. The use of certain gemstones and crystals may be of some benefit to you, including clear quartz, topaz, fire agate, and opals. Sun SemiSquare Venus: How to be true to yourself while also enjoying close personal relationships is a pointed issue for you in this lifetime. When you compromise or give up too much of yourself for the sake of making other people happy or keeping a relationship intact, a lot of internal friction is created and you feel increasingly empty or uncertain of your identity. At other times you may see-saw to the other extreme and expect others to totally support your creative efforts or to revolve their lives around your needs. Finding a balance between blending intimately and being authentically yourself is your challenge. Sun conjunct Mercury in Virgo: Physical coordination, manual dexterity and a great deal of innate intelligence, even brilliance, are your gifts. You also have a way of communicating that is clear and lively and full of energy, so that others want to hear what you have to say. However, you may be so ego-involved with your ideas and opinions that you do not really take in, listen to, or perceive any other point of view. 11 Chapter 3: Rising Sign The point that was on the eastern horizon at the moment of your birth is called the ASCENDANT, or rising sign. While the Sun describes your conscious direction and current life focus, and the Moon your subconscious predisposition and past, the Ascendant indicates a way of being that transcends and embraces past, present, and future. It describes the way you engage and merge with the outer world and how you bring through into life the energies depicted by the Sun, the Moon, and the rest of your birth chart. Everything is filtered through the Ascendant from an esoteric point of view. It indicates your soul's function and thus a key part of your destiny. Virgo Rising: You do everything skillfully with a fine sense of craftsmanship and precision, perfectionism, care and attention to detail. You are keenly observant and have an acute sensitivity to each and every thing in your environment; therefore, you attend to small things that others do not readily notice, the subtleties, the fine points. You fulfill your soul function through service, assisting and helping others, perhaps in a rather humble, understated, unglamorous way, and doing a job for its own sake rather than for personal recognition or glory. Your simple desire to be useful and to be of service, your willingness to engage in ongoing practice in order to improve, and your willingness to change or adjust yourself according to the light you have at any given moment, enables you to fulfill your function. When out of balance, you criticize, worry, obsess about yourself and/or your health or body, and tend to magnify problems. However, unless other factors in your birth chart suggest a breadth of vision and understanding, you are apt not only to forget the forest for the trees, but to forget the tree for the particular kind of bark. Chapter 4: Saturn, Your Achilles Heel Karmically considered, the placement of Saturn in your birth chart indicates where your energetic blockages, weaknesses and fears lie, and the areas of your life where the most concentrated effort and discipline will be required to master and overcome them. Yet it also points to the aspects of life which can become your greatest strength if you are willing to face your fears and difficulties honestly, and work with them patiently. Saturn in Leo You struggle with acute self consciousness and either an exaggerated sense of your own significance or a profound lack of it. This seriousness about the self and overconcern about your dignity or how others perceive you tends to tie you up in knots, and inhibits you from expressing yourself freely especially in those areas of life that should be or at least could be playful, spontaneous fun (lovemaking, dancing, sports, creative out-pouring of any part). Intense shyness may be a problem, especially in matters of the heart. Your performance anxiety reflects your deep need for recognition and affirmation from the world. However, this need is apt to be frustrated and unfulfilled until you learn to search within yourself for the truth about who you are, and discover a sense of wholeness and completeness within. Definitely you are your own worst enemy and severest critic, and you may be plagued by feelings of self-doubt and condemnation, worthlessness, and guilt, much of which is either unfounded or based on ancient, not clearly recognized "sins" from the past. Believing the worst about yourself, you are prone to hide from others, certain that they, too, will reject you. Unconscious messages you still carry (possibly from a critical father) are probably weighing you down and preventing you from seeing yourself realistically. On the other end of the spectrum, you may repress your own fears, your natural sense of caution and limits, "never allowing yourself the luxury of a negative thought", and consequently go blithely along until you are hit over the head from behind with an undeniable dose of reality. You may seesaw between believing you are far more limited (and bad) than you actually are, to not seeing limits or boundaries until you run straight into a brick wall. You need to "make friends with your shadow", though this is by no means an easy task. It has been said that "there is nothing to fear but fear itself". Chapter 5: The Hard Aspects The following is a description of your MAJOR LIFE CHALLENGES, both in terms of energies you are to learn to develop and express in a positive way, and those which are the result of struggles and unresolved karmic issues which you have brought into this life. Mercury SemiSquare Pluto: You have a penetrating, incisive mind which cuts through surface appearances to the deeper, underlying heart-of-the-matter. Your perceptions and profound insights border at times on being truly uncanny, for you have the gift of being able to perceive the hidden content, the concealed, Page 13/28

14 disguised, or suppressed aspects of a person, situation, or subject. On a concrete level, this quality of mind impels you to be the researcher or investigator, searching out the unknown, uncovering a mystery. Even in casual social interaction you automatically perceive others' subconscious intentions and motives. You are very astute psychologically. Hence, your presence can be somewhat threatening to those who have secrets or who have much invested in the superficial and prefer not to go any deeper. This capacity carries with it, however, challenges and pitfalls. You may find yourself falling into a habit of mind that is suspicious, paranoid, cynical, or preoccupied with the dark underside of life, and this may skew your entire outlook. (You may also use your considerable insight, persuasiveness, and mental power to try to manipulate others' thoughts and actions which would inevitably bring negative karmic results.) Verbally you can be quite cutting and hurtful. Realize that simply speaking "the truth" without mercy or sensitivity to how your words are received, can do more harm than good. At its worst this aspect would be expressed in a Machiavellian type of mind, utilizing your keen perception to manipulate and dominate others. Venus Square Pluto: The realm of human love and human relating is not one you can enter into lightly or casually. For you it is always an all-or-nothing, whole-hearted, and ultimately transformative experience. Great joy and tremendous pain, betrayals, intense desire, and longings are part of your soul's path and pattern in this lifetime. A deepening of your heart and your capacity to love, as well as a purification of your values, is what this is all about. It may be the loss of one particular person in a particularly poignant and excruciating way, or a series of encounters which bring you ever deeper into your own attachments. 15 The darker side or temptation on this path is to use love (or attractiveness, and others' love for you) to control, manipulate, or force your will upon them. A love of power -instead of the power of love - would then be your downfall. Chapter 6: Soft Aspects The following is a description of your GIFTS and STRENGTHS which can help you work with your major life challenges. These are abilities and qualities of heart, mind, and soul which are quite natural to you. You probably take them for granted. Because these represent the lines of least resistance for you, you may rely too much upon them at times; hence, there are some cautions suggested. Still, these are the areas where good flows into your life and/or where you have considerable inner resources. Mars Conjunct Jupiter: You have developed the capacity to direct your masculine/active, yang energies in healthy and positive ways. Thus, you have confidence in your "masculine" strengths and abilities. Ennobled by ideals of fair play and concern for the broader social implications of your choices, your actions are most often fortunate, leading to success and increased opportunities. A gift for leadership and inspiring others is also yours. Physical playfulness is an important way you can re-create and rejuvenate yourself. Mars Trine Uranus: In previous incarnational experiences you have been a revolutionary, a freedom fighter or engaged in activities that required considerable audacity, courage, and willingness to forego conventionality. You act quickly and decisively in response to a crisis, and can take up the sword and execute drastic measures if necessary. You are at your best in moments of danger, and may gravitate toward or unconsciously seek them out. While it is likely that you have moderated the intense willfulness and inability to cope with any sort of restrictions, you still need to be blazing new trails. This in fact is one of your gifts, as is your high level of vital energy. Saturn Sextile Neptune: You have distilled wisdom through the disciplines and willing sacrifices you have made in your incarnational past. Now, it is relatively easy for you to appreciate simplicity and to enjoy the peace of mind that comes from detachment from too many material "needs" and wants. 17 Karmic Past Life Report The effects of past life experiences can carry over into your current life, accounting for interests, habits, even phobias which would defy explanation by conventional methods. This report examines possible past life connections using astrological methods. It is not intended to be taken as a complete interpretation of your birth chart; it looks at your chart from only one perspective. It is written in simple language, avoiding the use of astrological terms as much as possible. For the interest of students of astrology, relevant astrological references are made at the top of each section. There are certain factors which indicate a need to seek further answers through past life regression. If you find reference to this within your chart, you may discover that your spiritual growth will be enhanced by using this method. It is believed that we carry karmic memories in our subconscious, and that these subconscious memories can undermine our current life efforts. When we remove the walls created by subconscious fears and guilt, we find that the path to personal transformation lies beyond. If, in your chapter you find a number of descriptions of planets placed in your twelfth house, consider exploring your hidden self through past life regression. 12th house cusp in Leo You have considerable inner strength. Willpower and persistence are hidden beneath your surface. Your self-image is out of proportion, being either too great or too small. Look for a significant prior lifetime in a leadership position. Your use or abuse of that position will tell you much about your current self-image.
